12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Quote from: Keranu on 04/01/2007, 09:10 PMWell since this game already exists, you have nothing to worry about :D . If NiGHTS 2 sucks, so what? You still have the original to play that can relive all your fond memories.
Try telling that to people that wind up hating rehashers like Capcom.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Same here, the hentai Valis game isn't going to alter my opinion on the previous games. I think one important game to me is the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. That game holds special nostalgia to me and is one of my all time favorites. Even though there are a lot of craptastic Sonic games now, it doesn't change my feelings towards the original game one bit. Of course there are times where a sequel can prove to be even better :D (though I am having a hard time thinking of one at the moment, but I assure it's possible!).

Here are awesome examples of where the sequels are better than the originals.

-Thunder Force 2 (they just kept getting better and better)
-Revenge of Shinobi (most people prefer it over the original Shinobi)
-Shinobi III (ditto)
-Super Fantasy Zone
-Castlevania 3 (I pretend that part 2 does not exist)
-Super Hang-On
-Virtua Fighter 2
-Super Mario Bros 2 (US version, I do not enjoy the original SMB)
-Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Have you tried Thunder Force One? I've always wondered if its any good.

Although I can see how most people would consider the sequels to Shinobi to be better than the original, I don't consider them real sequels(to Shinobi One, not each other), since they're so different from original the Rolling Thunder'esque gameplay.

I think you mentioned in another thread that you prefer the first SMS Fantasy Zone to the sequel. But FZ2 is my favorite, although I haven't really tried Super' and haven't played enough of the Game Gear game.

I think Keranu was talking about direct sequels though... which still doesn't change the fact that sometimes developers don't get a game right until they've ripped off millions of 'fans' with a few experiments (I'm still waiting for the first good game from many hit series).

Virtua Fighter 2 is a great example. Its still my favorite VF game.

Wrath of Khan is an easy one, since the original wasn't very good in the first place and there's no 'magic' to try to beat.

I gotta disagree, I thought the original run n' gunning Duke Nukem games were good already. 3-D was good too, but like you said, it's not so comparable to the originals.

From what little I've played and seen others play of the good ole 2D'ers, I don't think they're bad at all. I just think that if I was forced to compare them fun-wise, I'd probably go for '3D.

A proper sequel that could improve on the 2D games, would be cool if it was "Legacy of the Clash at Olympanadu" 'ish.

I'd just say more like NES Rambo, but most people don't get that game and too many people only respond positively if you use one of those retard mash ups of the few 'that type of game' games that we're told are okay to like.

Duke Nukem's quite entertaining in all his forms.  The much anticipated release date for Duke Nukem Forever has been set..... August 12, 2032.  :---)
Has any other game been fucked around as much as DNF?  It's been ten years since it was announced, and still no solid info. on where the project is going.  Sadly, I quit caring a few years back and won't buy it unless it's phenomenal (if it actually does get released).  I hope that Sega doesn't pull this type of shit with NiGHTS.  I'd rather see a mediocre sequel than get jerked around for a few years.  <-- Hey look, I found the topic again!

New NiGHTS interview.

Though not a whole lot of new info, but it's sounding like a very promising game. Like I mentioned before in my debates, it definitely sounds like this sequel is more towards the NiGHTS fanbase rather than a crappy sellout sequel like for Sonic. The option between the classic controls + new controls sounds like a good idea.

Playing Nights 2 currently.

Man the graphics are totally weird!

Sometimes it looks like pre-dreamcast graphics and then it looks amazing in game.  I would compare the special effects in game to Panzer Dragoon Orta.

So far got through the first stage, pretty excellent, a little too much storyline for my taste, but the gameplay is VERY faithful to the original.
