@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

-Legend of Xanadu (1&2)

Any other good RPGs needing a translation?

I would like the voice and cinemas translated as well.

More so than I want most other games translated entirely.

Where would you go to get the translations for these games?

This is primarily looking for input on games users would most like to see get translations that haven't.

Thanks  :D Sorry to go a little offtopic but I just thought it would be nice to know. I'm not much into the PCE scene (yet) so I don't really have much of a list.

1. Tokimeki Memorial
2. Ranma 1/2 - Toraware No Hanayome
3. Toppu O Nerai! Gunbuster Vol. 1
4. Toppu O Nerai! Gunbuster Vol. 2
5. The Secret of Blue Water

And probably several other digital comics I'm forgetting.  There are a ton of RPGs I'd like to play in English, but frankly I'm more interested in seeing translations of games from genres that don't really exist in the US (plus I'm a big fan of Ranma and Gunbuster :P).  There's a lot of JRPGs I haven't even played yet.

Same here, & add in Legend of Heroes 2, Sorcerian, Brandish, & Popful Mail, Sol Moonarge.  The main ones being anything from Falcom, & the Tengai's!  Plus, lest us not forget all the Cosmic Fantasy's!

Other games that are higher up on the list for me, Blood Gear, the Lodoss games, Valis 1 & 4, the Burai's, the Angel's Poem games, Efera & Jiliora, Faerie Dust Story, Fang of Arnam, Fray CD, Xak 1 & 2, the Dragon Knights, the Kisou Louga's, Ruin, KO Century Beast, Magicoal, Monbit, Moonlight Lady, River City Ransom(& the other Downtown Nekketsu game), Solid Force, Star Breaker, the Startling Odyssey's, Sword Master, Travellers!, ...& also the Wizardry's & Dragon Knights would be cool.  There are more I'd love to see, but, I have to make my list, somewhat reasonable  #-o :D

I would be interested in all of the mahjong games, especially Vanilla Syndrome. And could someone please clarify why this is labeled as "Bunilla Syndrome" sometimes? Is this a fuckup, or is it really called that? The original is called Vanilla Syndrome. Anyways, Hi-Leg Fantasy is definitely high on the list too, and of course, the completion of Ys 4 would be awesome. Who's in charge of that project anyways?

If any of the aforementioned games are completely translated, I'll spring for official releases. Neohucard is itching for a game to use, and according to Bonknuts, it's much easier to bring a normal cdrom game over since it can be "converted" to super cdrom. Any super cdrom games that are untranslated could be converted to system 4.

It's probably just Engrish.

Ask a native Japanese speaker to say "Vanilla" and they will probably say "bunira." Someone spelled it like it sounded to them.

NecroPhile

Sinistron, Black Tiger, and ParanoiaDragon have pretty much covered everything that I'd love to see.  I'll add Emerald Dragon, Laplace No Ma, Madou Monogatari, and the Yuna pair.

I didn't list Y's IV because what translation is done is so much better than nothing. I didn't list Drac X or 2036 because they have about two paragraphs of speech and they aren't gameplay related at all.

That being said, if someone wanted to work on doing the audio for Y's IV I'd be willing. Of course most of us would probably rather have subtitles, but that requires actual hacking. If someone wants to write up translations and timing (like how animation directors do it) then I know enough people who act as well as any garbage league Japanese quiz show reject seiyuu. I have all the recording gear too.

Completion of Ys IV audio would be really, really cool.  The English patch that's already on there is excellent.

Most of the folks have mentioned the ones I'd like, TM's, Cosmic Fantasies, etc.

And on top of that, I'd love to see some of the wacky/goofy RPGs translated, such as:

Aurora Quest (I'm playing it now)
Body Conquest
Dragon Knight Series (Mostly I & II, since III has a PC translation)
High-Leg Fantasy
Momotaro RPGs
Nekketsu Legend Baseballer

ParanoiaDragon

Argh, how did I forget about Emerald Dragon & Madoh Monogatari??

I also have to vote for an Ys IV dub. There were plans for one at one point, but it fell through. I had auditioned for the part of Tim. That was before my voice fully broke, though. :)

TurboXray

Ys IV audio dub is *very* possible. The ADPCM voices (in game) areas are known to and there's a tool to extract them. I've already looked at doing subtitles for the game. In all honesty there's absolutely zero fun in doing it for me and I rather not do it if someone can assemble a team to tackle the dub. There was talk of adding a subtitle system to an EMU (which is much-much-much easier to do), but that leaves out the players that want to use the real system.

spenoza

Well, I suspect finding people around here willing to record lines will be easy. Finding people who are both willing and able may be a bit more challenging.

SignOfZeta

Well like I said, I have enough people for an entire cast. I can do all the recording here with high quality mics and stuff.

I need someone else to do a lot of ground work though. I need at least rough translation of all the spoken text, and a timed index of existing ADPCM and redbook tracks so I can compare the finished English audio file with the Japanese one. Smooth translations won't be necessary since the timing is predetermined by the game, and I'll have to direct around it. I don't have much knowledge of Japanese, but I know enough to get by if the translation is done and the tracks have been IDed.

I probably won't need to be provided with the music playing in the background during the spoken segments since its usually just repeated form elsewhere in the game, but I haven't checked for sure. I might need some piece of music that is only on an OST. I doubt it though. These clips also have sound effects, but I can probably come up with though.

I'll also need someone to take the audio files and re-insert them into the game for testing purposes along the way. I don't enjoy this, so someone else can have the fun. You'll probably have to make a dozen or more burns. Just so that you know.

If the fully translated version of Ys 4 comes to fruition, I'll fund an official pressing of the game.

I still have all my lines that I recorded for Dr. Flair, & I was also gonna end up being the narrator as well, with me doing an impression of the narrator from Ys 1 & 2(Alan Oppenheimer), but, by the time I was going to do that, Justus Johnson decided that the project as a whole wasn't going to work, because other then myself, & maybe a coule others, everyone else had crappy mics, & trying to get crappy recordings together with really good ones, was a headache in itself.

I had the link for all the voiced parts, but, I can't find it.  Oh, & you deffinitly will need the Ys 4 ost's for music that goes in the background, but, there's alteast one song, that is NOT even on the ost's.  The end theme music, where the lady is telling the story to the children at the end.  No one's been able to find an instrumental of that anywhere.  Justus was going to try to remake the song himself, but that never came to fruition.  And, I'd love to say I'd be able to make a carbon copy of the song, but, I just don't think, atleast at this time, that I'm talented enough to make it sound the same #-o

Oh, well. Maybe someone around here will be interested.

This idea of having an actual English release of Ys IV is exciting for me. I would definitely buy a copy, as well as many other fan-translations...

Im not A big fan of Ys,but that would be cool if some one voice dubbed the cinemas.Along with Xak III.That would not be legal,if some one was trying to sell pressed copies of that.Nightwolve was the one that did the original text translation of that,it wasn't done by anyone in here. Before he closed his forum down, there was some talk about him re translating it,I don`t no what ever became of it.
