I don't know if there is already a thread about this, but I thought it would be neat to see what everyone's desktop looks like. I was going to limit this topic to NEC console related images, but it would be cool to keep it open. ^^

Here's mine at the moment, a Space Fantasy Zone wallpaper.  8)

haha. Yeah, oddly enough my work computer was a mess of files like that. I just can't have my home computer in a state like that. hehe

I'm having trouble resizing my images in photoshop. I don't know what the issue is. I resize them, publish them to photobucket, and it comes out the same size every time here.  :-k

Nice photo btw though.    I used to have Aaron's SGX photo up on my desktop.

Edit: I always forget to change to 72 resolution. That took care of the problem.  #-o

I cannot stand the 10.5 Dock.  Long live 10.4!

Let's see if I can guess all of your apps, from left to right in the Dock:

-Finder
-Firefox (why is this not running?)
-Safari
-Mail
-iTunes
-???
-Photoshop
-unknown
-Skype???
-Dunno, looks retarded
-iPhoto?
-GarbageBand
-Reason
-???
-???
-iCal
-???
-MAME
-Crappy PC Engine emulator (good ones don't exist on the Mac)
-Transmit
-Toast
-MacJanitor or something like that
-???
-Tomato Torrent
-Quicktime
-Some druggie app?
-VLC
-Dunno, looks boring.  I'd never click that.
-iChat
-PSP emulator
-Grab (you can just use SHIFT+APPLE+3 or +4 instead of launching this thing)
-FOlder
-'nother folder
-This site
-Trash

Yeah, I really don't care for the look of 10.5. I actually prefer 10.2. Luckily since my Radeon 9800 powered Mac Mini doesn't support Quartz Extreme I don't have to deal with the cheesy transparent menus. I think they later came up with an check box for that, but at first it wasn't possible to turn off.

Corrected list:

-Finder
-Firefox (this not running because I prefer Safari. The opposite is true under Windows. I'm a picky mofo)
-Safari
-Mail
-iTunes
-Pages (Apple's word processor)
-Photoshop
-Audio Hijack
-Skype
-iWeb
-iPhoto
-GarbageBand
-Reason
-Recycle
-Stickies
-iCal
-Handbrake
-MAME
-TGEmu (works fine with HuCards)
-Transmit
-Toast
-MacJanitor
-System Preferences
-Tomato Torrent
-Quicktime (why this is in my dock is beyond me, I've since deleted it.)
-TwitterPod
-VLC
-Time Machine
-iChat
-iPSP (a PSP tool thing, not an emu)
-Grab (was messing with options)
-Folder (Documents)
-Folder (Downloads)
-This site
-Trash

I'm still living in the ancient past with OS 10.4. Before that I was using 10.2.8. When I finally got 10.4, they released 10.5 like the next month. I think I'll hold out to 10.6.

Just as long as they give us the option for a normal Dock and non-transparent windows, etc.  I really don't need the graphic candy that Apple builds their OS around.  Option are always a good thing!  That way everyone can be pleased.

Nat, my Mac is better than yours.  I think that means you probably owe a free cheeseburger or something.

I got sucked into the graphic candy. I love transparent windows and all those goodies. However, if it came down to me running the original XP skin or the classic look, I'd go with the classic. XP looks like teh shit - Windows for kids.

I have a deep love for dense, futuristic cityscapes. Maybe it comes from growing up in south Louisiana with all the petrochemical plants that looks like tiny metropolises at night. It's funny you mention Blade Runner, though. I've often hoped, since first seeing it back in the early 90s, that I live long enough to experience a future like that. I know it's dystopian, but it's just so visually appealing! Not to mention the pervasiveness of technology of all sorts. I can just imagine walking into a tiny retro electronics shop - with hanging, naked lightbulbs and chiptunes playing over the speakers - in some dark, rainy alley in a future megalopolis in 2050 and finding and old TurboDuo there.

I dunno, though... to me this picture looks friendly and inviting. Maybe it looks different because I shrunk it. I can provide the original full-size if anyone is interested.

Yeah, I always "Auto-hide the toolbar." I kinda assumed most people did that (who wants an ugly bar at the bottom that reduces your viewing space?) until I learned from real-world experience that I was in the minority.

I am actually going to break the seal at a party with my brothers. We have never played/seen any of the "Make your own music video" products in real life, so this will be quite the treat.

What's sad is that, back in the day, when these titles were advertised for Sega-CD on television, I thought they revealed how incredibly amazing the Sega-CD platform was going to be. I still loved my Turbo, but I thought the Turbo was *clearly* underpowered compared to Sega's beast.

Anyway, we're having a Kris Kross party.
