Sorry if this has been discussed recently, but I'm looking for a video signal converter that converts RF output to composite, S-video or the like. Specifically for use with an old Intellivision console or US TG16 on a flat screen display. I will eventually get a proper CRT for them, but in the mean time I would like to be able to use them on a modern TV, so does anyone have experience using one with decent results?

The DISPL TV will upscale RF to VGA.  Naturally it doesn't look so hot, but it works better then you'd think.  It's the only RF based upscaler I've ever heard of.  Be aware though being Japanese, it uses Japanese RF frequencies, so USA machines may or may not work.

What you want is a VCR.

If you're looking to get composite out of your Turbografx-16 /PC Engine, you can build your own cable.  I'm sure these instructions are also floating around these forums, but I already had this page bookmarked. :)

funny thing is I spent couple of hours today cleaning out one a filthy turbo grafx i picked up not too long ago. While I opened it and cleaned the thing I decided to add the composite port mod by soldering the same pins as in that tutorial but to the bottom of the board instead. the A/V works beautifully!

Samurai Ghost I highly reccomend it. It works rather nicely.

Nice mod! I might do that for my TG16, but the RF is mainly for my Intellivision. A VCR might work perfectly though, hadnt thought of that. Not really big on keeping a clunky VCR around just so I can play some Intellivision games though... Seems like there would be a sleek and affordable adapter available by now must most seem to be pretty expensive. Might just have to hold out until I have a CRT TV again.
