Anyone know how Capcom artists created the sprites on the CPS3 games?

I had been re-reading about the DOT process by SNK and surely Capcom must have had something similar. I can see a bunch of animator doing some pencil work and then scanning and cleaning up the sprites.

Here's the SNK process, mind you it's for a more "recent" game. So no 3D stuff for the old school guys.

Ran into this awesome thread on NeoGaf - which covers animation in games. No console specific stuff

if I'm reading it right, it looks like all animations for the few CPS3 games were done by hand then digitally "remastered." Apparently that's how the game "Skull Girls" was done.

Here are some stand outs (to me) from the thread.

I remember reading somewhere that KoF13 and Blazblue did the same thing with drawing on top of 3d models or whatever.

I was always in awe of some of the ridiculous animations in 3s.  Makoto's walk cycle and Elena's idle stance spring to mind.
Current want list:  Bomberman 93
