Hey guys!

I recently acquired a TurboGrafx 16 console package and noticed that when I use the Turbo Tap the controllers seem to act with a mind of their own. I'm not sure if the Turbo Tap is defective or if I'm using the wrong games for it (I read in another forum that only certain games are compatible with it and that using it with non-compatible games could cause the controllers to become unresponsive / do their own thing). My concern is that I have been using it with "Power Golf" which is a multiplayer game.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on this? Would someone with a functioning Turbo Tap and a copy of "Power Golf" be able to test this? Thank you in advance for your help!

I have Power Golf and a DuoTap, which I wouldn't expect to act differently.  You're not using an extension cord between the tap and system, I hope.

Some games (very few) act wacky if a controller is plugged into port #2?

But I do not recall Power Golf being a game that causes any problems...

I didn't use an extension cord between the tap and the system. Perhaps the ports are dirty? How would one go about cleaning them?

For your reference, here is a thread where a few people make mention of some games not being compatible with the TurboTap:

I played more Power Golf last night than I ever have before..... which admittedly isn't saying all that much.  I had no problems, with everything working the same without a tap, with tap and one controller, or with tap and two controllers; so it's either a problem unique to the TurboTap or there's something wrong with yours (perhaps cracked solder or just dirty).

Thank you for checking! :) Coincidentally, the seller has another one, so we're going to swap tonight. Hopefully this one works!

CrackTiger

Bitd dust getting into my Tap through the unused ports caused problems, so when I upgraded to a TurboDuo, I covered the unused ports of my DuoTap with masking tape.

Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Typically the connections for the ports go bad. Simply open up the tap and re-flow some solder on the controller ports. Definitely doable even for someone who hasn't soldered much before. The pins for the controller ports are nice and large so it would be difficult to mess it up.
