Ok, so between the JP and US version what are the differences if any?

I have never played either game and a quick search didn't show me any results, mostly just buy sell threads. My google fu is weak on this game as I mostly just got wikipedia info but nothing comparing the two games. Well, there was one comparing the Genesis version to the TG16 version.

I would like to know if there are any differences.

CrackTiger

They're both bilingual and awesome.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I'd wager a guess and say the Japanese version (which does have English voices) is more worth your time. More often than not, it seems like TTI or the localization team managed to fuck up western releases, making them fairly undesirable, imo. Better go straight to the source!

Thanks for both of your inputs.

I have actually purchased a version of this game. I bought the JP version. I recently found a brand new 6 button controller Ave pad 6 on the bay for $50 from someone in Greece. I snapped it up asap. But I still wanted a 3 button Ave pad controller as well.

So.... yes... I bought a sealed copy of forgotten worlds with the controller in it.

I have a few goodies I plan on opening here soon and recording it. Used US copy selling for what I bought this for brand new on the bay so.... Prolly paid to much but I have what I wanted. A brand new 3 button pad and from what it sounds like a good game and most likely the better version of it possibly. :)

I hate you!  I have wanted the pce forgotten worlds/ave 3 combo pack for ages!

Congrats! It is a pretty fun game.
But were you going to open it?...
The collecting side of me says it's worth more tested and working. Sealed... it could just be a small brick inside to simulate the weight.

I have this feeling every time I buy something 20 something years old that is still sold as brand new. It's just a brick inside it's packaging, until it's opened to verify the contents.

Always open everything. Record it, if possible, to make the dipshits at NintendoAge shit a brick.

Snippet of one of my streams showing off and opening some games. I was very tired and most likely a little drunk. It's not very entertaining but... It's the only one I did spur of the moment so far. The next one will be much better as it will be planned and it will be full screen.

Most releases either didn't need much of anything localized or were localized perfectly fine. Of the rest, more games were improved over the Japanese versions than were "fucked up". Better to play TTi versions overall, but especially if you speak English, but not Japanese.

cool video. jealous as hell of your supergrafx stuff. I'm actually playing Legend of heroes right now too, nearly finished the game at the end of chapter 5. I was enjoying it quite a bit but thought it started dragging on around 15 hour mark, i ought a finish it soon. best part is the voice acting imo - always a good laugh.

also everyone here seems to forget about the saturn port of daimakaimura. I haven't played the supergrafx version but from what i've seen the saturn one is more similar to the arcade. From what i know, it's an actual port too .

CrackTiger

It's not the same kind of port when the target hardware is a certain magnitude more powerful than the source.

Actually I had no idea that game was on the Saturn. Most consoles I stick to the US side of things. The TG16/PCE is really the only one I have crossed over and actually purchased JP games, or even researched for that matter. I have looked at PC-FX but nothing beyond that.

MotherGunner

Does the PCE version come with an Obi?  If not, is it one of the few that didn't?

There's also a port for Playstation.

There were two UPCs: game-only (must have an OBI) and game + AVE PAD 3 in box. I have the latter.

If I had to guess, I think the game was sealed within the box, so it probably has an OBI.

May I ask what is an OBI?

There is an AV gold metalic sticker that is over the opening of the box to create the seal. I can tell it has never been peeled or attempted to be peeled back.

spine or some kind of paper strip

EmperorIng

It's a worthless strip of paper that drives collectors wild and allows you to gouge a game for at least $7-10 more dollars than normal.

MotherGunner

Agreed it's worthless, but I have yet to see a picture of one for PCE Forgotten Worlds.

Well, I finally did my opening of this sealed game.

Here are some links for everyone. It's not as fancy as Esteban would do but it showcases imo just fine the opening, controllers and game.

If you ever want to see some TG/PCE games getting played I do stream from time to time as well. So follow me on twitch for random games.

You can't go wrong with Forgotten Worlds + AVE 3
