Is Vasteel supposed to have a 2 CD case?

So I am going to guess this was answered at least once on this forum before but having checked many searches I wasn't able to find quite the right phrase that would line up the right answer.. Anyways, I recently came into this came with the outer sleeve and everything and was really excited, only to notice that the case can hold 2 disc but only has one in it. This made me wonder if it's either missing a disc or, if part of the case was replaced with something generic, or if it was just for some reason designed this way?

I figured someone more knowledgeable might have some input here since i'm still pretty new to the Turbo scene, thanks!

That sounds messy.

Your copy is missing the Working designs upcoming titles demo disc. Just google it.

I googled that exact phrase just now and don't seem to be finding much, so if this was sold as complete, would it be worth going after the seller (on ebay) for it not having this disc? It's a US copy btw if that matters.

Can't seem to find it looking generically on google or ebay at least. As for being messy, well something had to go inside the empty space.

I think he was joking. I do not believe that game ever included a second disc of any sort. the two CD case is really just there to have extra space in order to hold the manual and map etc

goldenpp72

Well I knew one part was a joke but, going by other working designs titles I figured it was plausible. Now i'm more confused again :P It seems odd to include a generic holder for that, maybe it was cheaper than doing a more custom job?

There's a bunch of PCE games that come in a double CD case to support a thick manual or other materials.  Snatcher, Legend of Heroes II, Tengai Makyou II and Kabuki Den come to mind.  Urusei Yatsura: Stay with You also comes in a double case, but that one comes with an audio CD.  Vasteel had one CD, don't sweat it.

For whatever reason, RPGs often come in double cases. This is more common with Japanese releases since RPGs are more common there. This is despite the fact that there are no multi-disc PCE games. A couple had a music CD or something, but none have two actual game CDs. Sometimes its said that this is done to allow for thicker manuals but there are a number of games where 2CD cases are used and the manuals would fit in a regular CD case just fine.

I guess it just seemed cool at the time...

I see, so the general consensus is that this never had a second disc, I guess the only other way I could have known is to get a new copy but, not gonna happen :P

No consensus necessary.  We're not guessing here, it's a fact.  I purchased my original copy of Vasteel from Toys R' Us, brand new.  There is only one disc.

Vic Ireland gave me disc #2 and told me to hold it close...

It's full of more battle jazz.

2D case games typically include a thick manual, a second manual/booklet, maps, charts, sticker sets, etc.

I can't think of any double sized cases that only came with a regular sized manual.

I bought mine new as well and didn't somehow forget about the extra disc no one has ever talked about.

The easiest way to remember how many CD games have 2 discs is that there aren't any.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I bought Vasteel brand new during the TG16's commercial life. The double case is simply to hold the bulky manual that the game comes with, nothing more. There was no bonus disc. The guys here are just toying with ya.
Turbo Badass Rank: Janne (6 of 12 clears)
Conquered so far: Sinistron, Violent Soldier, Tatsujin, Super Raiden, Shape Shifter, Rayxanber II

I bought Vasteel brand new from ToysRUS.

Only one disc, as everyone else has already confirmed.

However, Working Designs did produce ~100 "Golden" copies (the jewel case is dark gold in color). This limited edition version contains a vinyl flexi-disc (unreleased disco arrangements of two songs). I do not own this flexi-disc, sadly. Unfortunately, better quality recordings of these arrangements have not been found.

Here is a recreation of Side A of the Vasteel flexi-disc:

It also came with a fold-out map.

I was just about to say the same thing. I have this rather large fold out map of the planets that came in the back section of the case.
