Air Zonk price has exploded [edit: no, it has not]

It wasn't that long ago when you could easily find Air Zonk loose for under $30 (and I would have considered that to be a somewhat high price).  Prices have seemingly doubled (or worse) on eBay.

What do you guys think about this?  This has to be a result of the Virtual Console exposing more people to the game, right?  Does this mean that other fun, uncommon games for the TG-16 are bound to increase in price as VC versions are released (and discovered by the formerly uninitiated)?

Discuss.

Meh, prices fluctuate.  Though I'm not convinced that the price has risen all that much, considering the last loose copy sold on ebay went for $36 and was bundled with Davis Cup Tennis, Legendary Axe II, and World Class Baseball.

Heh you're right.  Should have checked completed-items, I guess :)  BINs are usually overpriced.

Clicking this link will reveal my impetus though: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?satitle=air+zonk

Lochlan, this is a result of spineless store sellers letting BIN copies sit for sale for months on end at $99.99.

Everybody knows Air Zonk is not worth $100, but by doing so they get the less-educated folks who use eBay as some kind of "value guide" to buy into that mentality which in turn causes prices to go up all-around. It's artificial inflation brought on by scumbag store sellers, in particular GameSquad and one other who's name escapes me at the moment. The pioneer of this tactic back in the day was Bullseye, although the inflation he prompted was at the bottom of the laundry list of problems he had.

Like Necromancer said however, prices fluctuate. Someone here bought a CIB copy recently for like $40. Cheap copies, or rather, copies at a fairer price pop up from time to time. Just be patient.

Do NOT use ebay to gauge the price of items unless you plan on ripping someone off or being ripped off yourself. A loose Air Zonk is worth $20, or $39 with the manual. A complete Air Zonk is $45, and factory-sealed is $89. Resealed is the same as complete, and you're getting ripped off if you pay the factory-sealed price for a resealed copy.

Great advice, and is an extension of what I was getting at.

I bought a complete airzonk for only $24.00 bin on ebay in 2007. It came with a mint hucard, excellent condition manual and good condition cardboard box. It was however missing the plastic tray, but the seller threw in a hucard jewel case. I was overall happy with my purchase.

Some clown in Hong Kong was actually selling a supposedly original factory sealed Dracula X for $1000 Buy It Now...completely bogus...

I finally managed to acquire a near mint copy for myself for about $112 with shipping which is about the price they seem to go for on there.

$112  is a good deal on dracula x. It usually goes for around $135.

I have an Air Zonk in box here I will be happy to trade for a Dracula X.   Anyone interested in get in touch.

You know, this may be a case of Hong Kong dollars instead of $US...I guess there's a DUO-R in Hong Kong that goes on sale on eBay every so often, and the BIN price is $999...turns out it's HK dollars, though, which is about $130 at today's exchange rate. Seemingly a lot more reasonable for a Duo!

I'm just speculating, though.

SignOfZeta

Right now Hit Japan has a (PCE version) copy for $28. Air Mail is $7. The case isn't %100 white, but hell, at least you get a case instead of a stupid cardboard box.

Rock my world $50 cardboard box!

Yeah I made sure to check on that, and it was listed in US dollars...  Either he was serious or made an error when selecting the currency.

Another guy (bases in the US) actually put up for sale a factory sealed Legend of Zelda NES cart for $700US.  I mean who in their right mind would actually try and sell a game for that kind of price?  Who would be so stupid as to purchase it?  I'm sure the battery back up fizzeled out in it some time in 1995.  :/

As for Air Zonk, I see that I have a CD-R back up that the dude who I bought the system off decided to include with a bunch of other games.  Fun game and cool music, but I have no intention of finding an orginal copy.

If you have a CD, then you have the sequel. "Super Air Zonk" is Air Zonk 2. The first game is on a cart and is better although the music is a very different style.

That's OK, but if you like part 2, you should definitely track down part 1. Like I said, it's better than part 2.
