Well, I poked around in MAMEUI today and discovered that a great many Data East arcade games used the HuC6280 as the CPU. This makes me wonder why they didn't port more Data East arcade titles to the PC Engine. I mean, the CPU code, at least, would be an easy conversion.

Excellent question. I suppose this decision was ultimately determined by economics and not technical issues. Can you compile a list of games that used HuC6280? Besides Bloody Wolf... :)

Er, not sure how to get MAME to spit out that information from within itself. Also, I don't think it specifies whether the HuC6280 is THE CPU or A CPU, like a sound CPU or co-processor or something.

I only know of one other arcade system besides Bloody Wolf that used the '6280 and that was Triple Punch. Other arcade systems used it for a sound processor (usually at a lower speed too). Funny thing is, they totally ignore the 6 onboard DAC's of the CPU. Dumb asses.
