I just read about a RGB to NTSC convertor to make a neo geo supergun.  My question is, if I mod my tg16 to output rgb and then use the board that translates it back to ntsc, will it still give me an amazing picture?  I'm referring to the R2N from crazearcade.com that I got off of D-lite's website.  Anyways,  does the R2N translate the RGB quality image to NTSC or does it "water down" the image like the normal composite out does?

Oh i forgot to add that I don't want to buy a tiny rgb monitor or the xrgb rgb converter thing as it's $ 189.  I'm looking for a cheap way to experience the highest quality picture on my 32" HDTV.

I think the RGB output is nice on a TG/PCE/Duo if you amplify the RGB first then make an ouput. I think all you gotta do is add some caps, transistors and resistors. Heres a link. http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/duorgb.php

I do think you have to build an amp for it to work with a vibrant picture.

I'm not quite sure I know what you think the R2N does.  It converts the RGB to composite or S-Video.  NTSC or PAL is just related to the Hz of the output.  "NTSC" doesn't refer to the video output type (ie, composite, S-Video, component, RGB).

Taking the RGB to composite with an encoder is actually worse than the normal Turbo composite output.  The S-Video is better.

A word about the available encoders working with Turbo.  They don't work.  Well, at least.  I'm trying to figure out why exactly.  The best bet is the JROK but it's odd.

The best encoder?  The one I make.  And I'm not fluffing my own pillows.  Don't need an additional RGB amp either.

I'll be posting more about it soon in fact.

How's the S-video mod compared to the RGB mod? Anyone have any screenshot comparisons?

Hey D-lite, did you get any results trying to do component video output for a TG system of any sort with using a NeoBitz or something like that? Also the are those RGB Scart convertors that convert to component. I hear this one is as good quality as a NeoBitz and it doesn't need any mods for almost all systems with RGB ouput through Scart connection, heres a link. http://www.converters.tv/products/converters/other_products/46.html
I may get this one day, the only thing is that I have to buy Scart connectors for all my systems. It works in NTSC modes also.
