@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I've been putting together a new site that catalogues a mishmash of things that I have worked on over the years so it doesn't get forgotten. It's not yet complete, but there are a few sections that are ready and might be of interest to people here.

The first is the section of old Amiga projects, many of which have references to PC Engine and other consoles of the time. It also has a gazillion screenshots and videos and adf files to download.
The other is the 'Things Printed on Paper' section which has 2 issues of a fanzine I wrote which covers games, anime, movies etc and has a PC Engine feature in issue 1. This was done years ago before teh internetz existed, so forgive any errors.

The site is at www.pcengine.co.uk/sunteam.

JoshTurboTrollX

Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

I love the UI for the page archiving the Amiga stuff :)

I've gone through some stuff so far... totally fun!

"Make it so..." Hahahhahahaha.

ALSO: I would love playing Wonderboy in Cavern of Evil:

I've had some problems uploading the video for Don Don Land in the Amiga section. I should have that sorted soon so you can laugh at the fact we had the gall to go to EA with it!

Edit: Video is working now.

_Paul

I've made a page for my remake of Cybernoid which hasn't been available to download for a few years now.

You are too kind. It was fun watching the video, then I noticed the "Making Of..." PDF.

Dude, people will miss that PDF link! It was fun to skim through... but I cried when I read the part about Thanatos! Why no remake of that great game!

There were a couple of problems with the Thanatos idea. Firstly, the holders of the competition werern't bothered about retaining authenticity, and seemed more interested in 'interpretations' of the games on their list. I don't like it when remakes aren't faithful to the original, which is why when we did Cybernoid it was as close as we could get it, even retaining the resolution of the orginal graphics. Secondly, I hadn't managed to finish Thanatos so recreating the later parts would be guesswork. When the idea of Cybernoid came up, that seemed perfect. As good as Thanatos is, Cybernoid is a much better game.

I hear ya, Paul, but in Cybernoid, you don't get to control a WYVERN or WYRM or anything like that.  :)

I loved the mock 3D effect in Thanatos, it was really some eye-candy for the era. And burning villagers was just great fun.

The villagers were asking for it!, constantly shooting arrows at you, and whatnot.

1) I just watched a bit of "Glo-Bones" and noticed that you used Esquivel! I love Esquivel. :)

I didn't know who did it to be honest. It used to be the theme music to Fortean TV, a great little show that dealt with bizarre phenomenon but unfortunately didn't run for long. The Glo-Bones video used to have the moon music from Baron Munchausen and some Running Man on it, but I redubbed it recently, the new soundtrack seems suitable.

Duh! The links to the sub-sections on my Alien Storm page were broken. They are now fixed so you can see the various background, sprite and intro graphics.

Plus, this gives me a reason to scour the rest of the pages to see if I missed anything.

I still love the way NATAS makes an appearance in your work, by the way.

Not unless you can find a programmer. A trustworthy one. My experiences of programmers is not a good one (they love to start but hate to finish!)

I don't remember specifically referencing him, but I'm pretty sure we were heavily influenced at that time. I prefer the name King Heap though.

Added a page for Horace Goes Skiing remake, even if it was finished 2 years ago  :-"

SuperPlay

Great work Paul.  Love the layout in the Amiga section

SuperPlay

I seem to remember your Akira Sideshow/Demo from when I had used to work at an Amiga PD outlet called "PD Direct (MegaBlitz)" which was located in Newcastle-under-Lyme.  I am pretty sure that it would have been yours as I remember people commenting on the PCE load screen.

Let me look this up on my old PD Direct Catalogue disk ............ DAM DAM why did I give away / reuse all of my PD Direct Catalogue disks ;-)  I have just been in the loft and I can find disk catalogues for 4 or 5 other PD companies just not for the one I had used to work at LOL

_Paul

Interesting. I think we only sent our demos to be distributed by 'Five Star', but I'm sure they got around to other places. Amiga User (? or possibly some other Amiga magazine whose name escapes me) stole my picture of Tetsuo and used it in a news section about Akira.

MotherGunner

These are great man!  Mind linking from your siggy moving forward?

I mailed a copy of Insanity there.  What's that place like?  It has a strange name.  I picture a castle, and limes.

also, Horace Goes Skiing is hilarious and fun at the same time.  Horace is an interesting character.  I liked Hungry Horace too.

two games on the C64 I didn't think sucked.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Interesting that there is another owner of Insanity who lives only 5miles away from my place.

Ha Ha. Don't get too excited about the name, there is no castle ......

I've added a new page to the site under the title of 'Things That Almost Were'. It's a collection of unfinished project from over the years, including several PCE related ones. You'll find a lot more screenies of my abandoned PCE/Space Harrier game, as well as my PCE Quiz game and Solder-series shoot 'em up.

NecroPhile

Mmmm, Lummy-Harrier.  I'd definitely play that one.

I just re-read this thread and I can't believe I forgot about all the awesome stuff on sunteam_Paul's site.

Also, I wish there were more images of Natas (aka King Heap)!

I really am too predictable.

I really loved some of the work you did on these titles, do you ever think you will ever get back to any of them at all in the near / far future.  They look amazing.
If only I was computer graphic gaming literate, i would so help out.

It is what it is and it will be what it will be!

Looking for some games, but I will prolly never find.  Sapphire, Magical Chase (US)

No, sadly these are dead projects now. But my time is better spent on actual PCE games anyway, so that's a plus side.
