Growing up, my family as well as my wive's family, both had a closet full of board games. From Sorry to Jenga, to Monopoly and Chinese Checkers. You name it, we probably had it.  So my wifu and I are looking at doing something similar with the obvious current games twist.

I'm in the process of printing Paul's card game, so we are covered in that dept, and I found this little gem as well.

you guys play table top/Board games?

JoshTurboTrollX

Richard Garfield did King of Tokyo?

I wonder how much MANA I have to tap to summon Gojira...

And yeah- board games are great times!

Cattan, Rails, Naval Wars, Life, Sorry, Monopoly, Ninja Burger or "Are you a werewolf"  are great times!!  Sometimes board/card games are the best filler time when we're waiting for the rest of our gaming party to arrive.
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

I would grow a third nut for a complete Fireball Island.

I lOVE TABLE TOP GAMES ... although not as much as obey

Other suggestions:
Quirkle
Takenoko - spelling might be off <- serious fun
Settlers of Catan
Munchkin
Shadows over Camelot
Apples to Apples
Robo Ralley

One of my favortie you tube series is Wil Wheaton's Table Top:  I think most of those games have been on there

NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

I've been playing a lot of Eclipse lately and a friend of mine introduced me to Lords of Waterdeep.

Can someone please list some good co-op board games that I can write down for a later date.
Gypsies did it.

Got no luv for the krackers only slugs for the krackers!

Not really a board game but I am playing Cards against humanity.  It's a card game but "damn," this game is bad ass.

I like Tales of the Arabian Nights, Mice and Mystics, Cosmic Encounter, and Fags all over my face
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Screwball Scramble is the shit. The goal is to beat it as quickly as possible.

screwball scramble

It's kinda like a real video game...

When I am looking to play something a little more deep with a group of guys that are like-minded, I will usually pull out Risk 2210 and it is a big hit.  We played Zombies for a while, but Risk typically wins out when determining what we want to play.

When playing games with the family, old faithful is Yahtzee.  My favorite "family" board game is Scattergories, but I think it is because I am approximately 232-0 lifetime playing this game.

Settlers of Catan is great if you can get 3 or more players.  I love it.

Good 2+ player games (often it's just my wife and me...)

Carcassonne
Settlers of Catan Card game (games can be long, but we've played this one a bunch over the years)
Ticket to Ride (though it gets better with more players - we often play it with our 5 yr old)
Java
Mexica
Forbidden Island (more players = more fun)
Castle Panic (again more players = more fun)
Quiddler (fun word-creating card game)

Forbidden Island and Castle Panic are both co-op games that are easy to learn by non-gamers (I've brought them both to work for "team-building excercises")

Not that I'm a shill for Amazon (some of the ones that fetch a higher price you can probably find on the cheap off ebay), but I thought you may like to see some other reviews of these games to see if they'd fit your play-style.

Those are the ones that came off the top of my head, though if you're looking for some specific type of game, let me know and I may have other suggestions.  All of those I play with my wife, most I play with my son (who's 5) and I've played most of those with other nerdy friends and non-gamer friends.

I'll save my truly nerdy game list for another time :)

Lmao @ arkface

Some awesome recommendations.  Thank you all.

I found a D&D clue and a couple of themed Risk boards that look fun. Digging the Metal Gear board.

This weekend my 5yr old my 2.5 yr old and my wife played, mancala, jenga, chutes n ladders and candy land! Great times!

Rolfmao, dude!  Yes please, looking for some more current family games. Our collection of classics is pretty complete.

I remember Hero Quest, never played it.  :(

I bought and played Monopoly Empire over the Christmas holidays.  It was pretty fun, and we'll definitely play it again.

Any of you maggots who have not heard of the Nightmare/Atmosfear series are sent to the Black Hole.

I recently discovered this game thanks to Spoony, and it looked so interesting that I had to get it. I played it with my family once recently, and we all had a wonderful time. It's quite fun, but difficult to win.

The gimmick is that it came with a VHS tape that you were supposed to play in your VCR as you played the game. The tape featured the host of the game, The Gatekeeper, who would occasionally pop in to cause special events to occur in the game, usually by interacting with the players, and usually screwing with them. The tape is about an hour long, and if nobody wins by the end of the tape, the Gatekeeper wins.

If you don't have a VCR anymore, the entire video is on Youtube, which is what I did. I just started the video on Youtube on my big screen TV, and me, my little sister, and my parents played the game. Even if you have no intention of playing it, watch the video anyway. The Gatekeeper is absolutely hilarious.

This game was really popular in the early 1990s, and several sequels and expansion packs were released. There have even been fan-made sequels! I only have the original, but I will probably get more of them down the line. Definitely worth playing at least once.

I must watch this. I never played it, but that's not gonna stop me from watching the video.  :pcgs:

My parents had a copy - it has since been long gone.  the video sounds like it'd be cool to see though.

Here's the whole thing:

Nightmare / Atmosfear: The Video Board Game

And if you want to just see the Gatekeeper in all of his cheesy glory (a lot of the video is just a timer to keep track of how far you are into the game), here is a video of just the actual scenes:

Nightmare I: All Gatekeeper Scenes

Just a (obvious) warning, some of the things the Gatekeeper says will not make sense unless you know the rules of the game.

If you like a quick dungeon romp, 1.5hrs per game session, I recommend D&D Castle Ravenloft or Wrath of Ashardalon.

Runebound and Talisman are also good but can be lengthy.

M friend fell during the Polar Vortex and broke his leg, so me and another buddy visited him last weekend and I brought along my new pickup...   Walking Dead Risk.

The game moves pretty quick and doesn't take more than a few hours to play.  It was a fun take on the Risk formula, so I enjoyed it quite a bit.  The only problem with the game, and all Risk variants that have a turn limit, is the person who goes last always has a HUGE advantage.

Still, if you like Walking Dead and Risk, I recommend it.  Especially because traditional risk you need at least 4 players for it to be enjoyable, this game plays really well with 3.
