I've finally got all 14 of my consoles hooked up in such a way that I can switch between any system with just a couple button presses. There's five RGB, four S-video, three composite, and two component video-based consoles. Aside from manually swapping SCART plugs from the RGB-YUV converter, I don't have to unplug/replug any cables. Additionally, several of these consoles can switch easily between two TVs, one being set on its side for tate shooters.

The price for this convenience is that the following monstrosity has to live on my floor full time:
IMG

And that doesn't even show the other three power strips I have going along with tons of other crap behind the main TV.

But who really has the most ridiculous setup?

Arkhan Asylum

Mine was like that until I got an XRBG, so now it's just a bunch of SCART cables dangling on the floor in front lol.

Ha! I rotate consoles every few weeks because my twins would rip apart anything left in arm's length. :pcgs:

You have the cleanest wire setup I have ever seen. In my living room I have my PS4, XB1, Wii U, and cable box... and it looks worse than that.

In the game room where I have all my old systems.... I don't even want to talk about it.

Tatsujin

So many resistance, conductors, attenuators, capacitive as well inductive parallel loads and shit between the console and TV, don't you recognize some picture loss? :)

Uhh can you say fire hazard !?

How is that a fire hazard lol. Those are almost all A/V cables. If it were like 900 AC adapters, maybe.

It's all about the wattage. The rule of thumb is that you shouldn't take more than 1500 watts from one outlet. Check the ratings on your systems and add them up. As long as you are under 1500, you can daisy-chain power strips to your heart's content, and that came straight from an electrician I know.

In my case, thanks in part to having the 2nd TV and the 360 hooked up to a different outlet across the room, I only draw 600 watts from one outlet, and that would be with every single system on at the same time, which of course is silly. Typically, the draw is less than 400.

What you want to avoid is plugging in a hair dryer, a microwave, a vacuum cleaner and a space heater into one power strip.

This entire mess is just my X68000 setup alone. :)

This is why I only have one console out and plugged in at a time via scart. When I switch consoles the system and hook ups go together in a cabinet.

I have a rats nest of wires (though I still think you win, Sam!) but how often are more than one console turned on simultaneously? I'd venture not that often. Having said that, my sub is plugged into a separate area of the room so it's hopefully not pulling from the same line.

Kind of off-topic, I have an old Dell P4 hooked up in my living room that I use for Netflix and some Steam and Mame games and it did NOT play nice when plugged into my 1000v battery backup that the TV and receiver were plugged into. So that had to be moved to another plug as well. Someday I'll have a nice low-power htpc (that doesn't sound like a jet engine) for Netflix and gaming goodness.

Entertainment Center Wire Apocalypse by xcrement5x, on Flickr

I've got lots of stuff hooked up, and almost no room to get back and mess with it!

PS2/XBOX
Pioneer CLD-A100 LaserActive Laserdisc Player
SNES/N64/NES
PC Engine Duo-RX
Dreamcast/Saturn
Model 1 Genesis + Model 2 Sega CD and a 32X. I've also got a Power Base Converter stuck in with my controllers for when I get that SMS itch.

Everything is set up pretty easy to use and I have a pair of Sony composite switches to handle most stuff, plus the TV does S-vid and component but I use the remote to access those. But ugh, looks like I need to dust a bit near the switches. [-X 8-[

You know it gets bad when the wires reach around your TV and try to take your controllers hostage! Anyway, I tried to clean this one up a bit after I took this picture. It looks better... a little... ok not very much.

My regular Sony TV. I found a huge long power brick thing that is about 4 feet long, sits nicely behind everything.

My HDTV with other stuff.

Where can i find one of those boxes where you can connect like 6 VGA (red white yellow, i think that's what they're called right?) cords into them at once and then just switch them. I passed by getting like 3 at a goodwill once figuring i could find them again, i was so stupid.

=D> Nice. Is that a Tripp Lite power bar? I love those things, especially when teamed up with an APC voltage regulator (capable of keeping up with the expected max load, of course).
Uh, well i know i have one of those Tripp Lite power bars for my computer and such, but i have no idea what im using in the pictures!
