I'm curious to find out if anyone on here has any experience with playing Populous ?? I started going through the tutorial which is all in English so I imagine it's playable without having to know how to read Japanese. My question is to anyone that's played this before is it worth playing ?? Looks fairly interesting so I'm willing to give it a go if it's worth the try ...

Finally playing these games I couldn't get my hands on back in 91' !!! Nec fan always !!!

CrackTiger

It's a great game and lots of fun, but not for everyone.

Only one way to find out if you'll enjoy it.

I imagine that Promised Lands might be more entertaining and it's also cheap.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

It's an awesome game. I used to play it a lot when I was younger on my friends radio shack tandy color computer. Same exact game.

Oh and the theme song is awesome! Not sure why the bass drum sounds so realistic on this game but so crappy on other turbo chip games.

Populous was the first pce game i bought. Earthquaking people brings great satisfaction.

love it and and love the scorchy sound samples.  I think the heart beat samples played throughout the game are unique to the pc engine version ??

I don't recall it appearing on the genesis, snes versions .

Also again love the sound samples.

JoshTurboTrollX

I believe the other systems had the heartbeat sounds during gameplay as well.  :)

Here's my son and I playing around with it last year!

Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Psycho Punch

I like it but I prefer the piano MIDI theme 100x times.

I just scored promised lands for $13 looking forward to it...

The only thing I don't like about the promissed lands CD is that if you play the original game on it(meaning the original chip version) The graphics look dull and faded compared to the hu card. No idea why this is. So because of that I own both the hu card for the original and then promissed lands for the add on version.

Yeah, the whole thing, the HuCard version anyway, is totally %100 English.

And the game in general is great. I've been a fan since the Amiga version.

I wonder why they never ported "Powermonger" to the PCE...since it was a follow-up it might have been a good seller anyway...
