Rainbow Islands thread

Game is pretty fun, but very difficult with all the gem collecting and enemies. I can get up to the 4th boss.

How do you beat him? The clowns go all over the place.

I'm playing the Genesis version btw.

Just looked up the pce version, and the clown boss is much slower. Guess I should play a different version?

It's pretty tough for me, even on the PCE, can't recall how far I got when I've played it though, the clown doesn't sound familiar, but it's been several years since I played it.

Ok just played the PCE version. Gameplay has many differences! I like this one much more.

Enemies don't move in fast, constant patterns. PCE has all the enemies unlike Genny.

Bosses have different patterns.

Gems are much easier to get, since the killed enemies don't fly as far.

Unlimited continues, but you must restart the world. Very fair imo.

Many more star power-ups. Hurry Up! flood appears much faster now (less time to beat levels)

No Extra mode, but whatever.

I used to think that some music from the sound test wasn't actually used in the game, but someone, probably here at the forums, said I was mistaken.

(So, if anyone can clear that up, that would be great.)

I don't even remember how to unlock the final world...you have to get the rainbow necklace? Something like that.

You have to get the 7 diamonds on every single world without missing any. Then you need to do the same for the secret 3 worlds

I haven't touched it in years.. I only have the sega saturn version now tho. 



I used to wonder why they went the cd-rom route with the pce version when I think that hucard would have been a better choice.  Well at least when you beat the pc-e version you get a unique ending.

I think it's because of why Darius Plus got a CD version. To have the arcade soundtrack, and cheaper manufacturing costs. They didn't add extras or anything though.

Super Darius has more content than Plus or the arcade version.

I have to turn off the PCE music as that Over the Rainbow song gets old real quick.

I know, I meant rainbow islands. Rainbow islands has no extras besides Dolby surround sound

I had this on nes bitd. Played it to death. Still prefer parasol stars though.
