@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Hello all,
I recently purchased a duo r but im having an issue with the cds. The spindle is not "clicking" the discs in place, the discs just slip when the drive spins. I slipped in a piece of paper napkin between the spindle and the cds; after a few tries the games booted up and played with no problems.
As all of you can imagine is a hassle to be placing a piece of paper between the spindle and cds every time I want to play.
Does anybody have a more elegant quick fix for this? Do I have to replace the spindle? and if so, is it an easy operation?
I will much appreciate your suggestions.

Sounds like either the hub is missing from the lid or the felt material that should be on the hub is missing.

Is the magnet that sits in the CD drive lid missing?

EvilTG16

The hub under the lid is there but I didn't know there was a magnet. I'll take a look and try to compare to a working one if I can find a pic of what it should look like online.

There is supposed to be a magnet that holds the CD down against the spindle. If it turns out yours is indeed missing I might be able to send you one for cheap. Let me dig through my DUO parts and see if I have a spare.

Sorry for the crappy lighting. It seems the magnet is in place but it's not pressing enough for the disc to not slip.

That is odd. Is you lid malformed or crooked? Is the magnet loose enough to hang down and touch the spindle? You can always remove the magnet and just put it on each game by hand. This would be at least better than your current situation of using napkin.

Also, do I see some chipping around the spindle plastic? Is the spindle itself smashed down by chance? I've seen these get pressed down on accident when someone doesn't get a CD in there correctly and then tries to close the lid.

I tried to pull the spindle up a little but it didn't move. I tried your suggestion about removing the magnet and putting it over each game and that worked!
I think that's what I'll do each time I want to play a CD, no big deal really.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.
