Bad. Crack. 500 hours of my life will be lost to this game. Anyone else playing it?

ToyMachine78

I am. I'm not too far in though. Level 8 and working through the corvega factory

Its pretty damn good. I loved FO 3 as well.

Yeah I have been more into just building up the Sanctuary settlement. Go figure. :P I got Dogmeat his first piece of armor, he looks pretty ridiculous in it but its better than nothing.

That is one thing I don't like. I can't stand these elaborate crafting systems they are putting in all new RPGs. They just become too damn tedious to me. Especially when, as in fallout 4, the menus drill down 3-4 levels deep in every option.

PukeSter

My friend can play anywhere from 3-12 hours a day of Fallout.

I've tried it. Not really my thing though.

Dicer

Played a buncha 3 and new Vegas, just not my thing this time around...

For someone totally oblivious to newer/modern games, what are differences from 3 to 4? Any at all?

Looks intriguing but probably not enough for me to go out and buy a PS4 or anything

How can someone so young be oblivious to modern games? Lol The two are very similar, and that's a good thing.

The differences ive noticed in 4:

- 4 is more colorful and detailed.
- The VATS targeting system is tweaked
- Perks/leveling up system is tweaked
- Much more character customization
- Crafting system overhaul. Crafting is much more in depth, and plays a bigger part in the gameplay.
- Power Armor is now treated like a vehicle rather than normal armor worn all the time
- Generic raiders seem a little more difficult/ better AI. They love some grenades and Molotov's!
- better weapon variety, which is due to the crafting.
- companion interaction/usefulness is more dynamic.

That's just off the top of my head. Again, I'm not very far into it yet.

CatPix

I'm waiting for it.
I was very excited when it was announced, and was about to pre-order it on Steam, and... okay. 65€ asked. for a DIGITAL copy.
So meh, if I'm to play 65E for it, you give me physical stuff, or I'll wait in like one month it will be solded for like 20€.

I have played through FO3 and NV in their entirety, every DLC, every achievement, mods, you name it.  So I watched my friend play a little of FO4, and while it looks fine, it seems very similar to FO3/NV which I played to death.  I'm also very cheap when it comes to Steam, what can I say - Gabe trained me that way.  So I will definitely wait for a sale ($10 or less) to pick it up.  Besides, while I do play new games all the time, I'm pretty into Turbo and GB right now so that's where my focus is on that.  In fact, the $60 bucks that would have been spent on FO4 went towards a bunch of GB stuff that I'm pretty excited about in it's place.

The big change is the ability to create settlements and build structures, defenses, and such. The crafting bit doesn't seem like a gimmick but really does help a lot during gameplay. I probably have close to 15 hours put into it and just got to level 12. Yeah, I like this better than Skyrim that's for sure. :P

I lump the building of settlements etc into the crafting system.

I don't have a PS4 yet, & I want to wait till there's a GOTY with all the trimmings & fixin's.  I enjoyed 3 & Vegas.  I'd love it if they remade the others(ones that are cannon, not Brotherhood of Steel) in this style.  I have 1 & 2 on Steam IIRC, but I just don't like playing games on my PC.

Groover

I haven't been playing it but I know many that are and I can't hang out with them because of it. This game just hadn't pulled me in like others. I'm also afraid if it did.

Say goodbye to your life. The wife and kiddies were at Grandmas this weekend and I played for 14hrs Saturday with just a few breaks. Its scary how fast time goes by while you are playing.

Yea I'm pretty hooked on it myself.  Playing on PS4 and I think I'm level 18.  I'm a huge fan of 3 (one of my favorite games of all time) but didn't love NV quite as much.  4, though, really has it's hooks in me.  I wish I just had more time to play.

So far, I feel like 4 is really just an extension of 3.  There are a few changes and updates, but overall it feels like more of the same.  Which imo is a good thing.  There's just something really satisfying about forgetting the quest log and just wandering the wasteland, exploring.  I played Skyrim too, which is similar in that regard, but fuck that game was just too big.  I felt like I was never making any headway and I just finally stopped playing it cold turkey.  Fallout 4 is expansive but doesn't seem overwhelming yet.  It's also been rock solid on PS4 - no crashes or game-breaking bugs.  Let's hope it stays that way.

Yeah got my first settlement attacked last night (Sanctuary) and my defenses kicked the crap out of the synths. However, I forgot to take the fusion core out of my power armor and one of the damn settlers took my power armor for a test spin and I have been unable to find it! Lesson learned: Take the fusion core out of your power armor so it won't get jacked. It's not like it was necessary anyway as every stinking settler has a nice weapon and armor and turrets should they get attacked. 30 hours in and still cracking hard on it.

I'm playing on PS4 too. The only bug I've encountered was I got stuck in between some crates in the corvega plant and couldn't get out. I had to load a previous save and I lost about 45mins of play.

Bad crack. Bad. Bad. Bad. 42 hours in and no end in site..

BigusSchmuck

And still playing. 85 hours in. Glad there is a patch to fix some of the bugs though this game is still incredibly easy to cheat in.

What do you mean cheat?  You mean buy a bunch of shit from a peddler then kill him and take your shit back?

It's called the Fallout effect. The whole IT department over at my job is radiated by it as well. :P
