I just sent my turbo duo to thesteve to have a bunch of mods done. My question is this. What type of sync should I have him wire the scart cable with ? What's gonna work the best with my framemeister ? Thanks

thesteve

its going to depend on which input cable you have for your Framemeister

thesteve

from a cable seller "Generally for Framemeisters with Firmware 1.08 and above you can use this passive adapter. For older firmware you may experience sync problems when using a "sync over composite video""

Lilmatty421

I have the regular pasive adapter from the UK cable seller.

thesteve

so what firmware is your framemeister?

Lilmatty421

I have the latest firmware. I update it every time they come out with one.

thesteve

then comp as sync should work
standard SCART cable

Mind posting a pic or two of your Duo after modification?  Been looking to get mine upgraded to rgb soon, wondering how close to factory it looks after modding.

As soon as I get it back I'll post some pics for you. You'll get to see how it looks with the works. My duo already has a region mod and Thesteve is putting in rgb, s-video, and av jacks on it. He's also replacing my laser so I never have to worry about that again either. When he's done it's going to be a work of art. It's funny cuz I debated just buying a pre modded duo-r from doujindance but I like the look of my black U.S. Duo better than the duo-r or rx. I almost pulled the trigger about a month ago because I couldn't find anyone to do the work. But after asking on the forum everyone said the Thesteve was the best and then after I heard Jason rauch from gametech mention him in a couple of his YouTube videos that sealed the deal. I've had Jason mod a couple and fix a couple of my other consoles and I trust him implicitly. When Jason has unresolvable issues with tg16 or Pc engine stuff he sends it to Thesteve.

I always just make a custom cable that goes from a DIN 8(DUO port) to a mini din 8(frame meister port) using this diagram http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=av:xrgb-mini-rgb_pinout.png

However the scart FB pin would not be needed. So one cable this way without having to join two scart ends together.

if you want just rgb, the only modification you can see from the outside you would need is to replace the DIN5 with a DIN8 so it will look almost completely stock.  This would be the only difference:

I've done a few cores and a tgcd system and always used the existing composite video line. They have all worked fine on my framemeister.
