I've just installed a RGB circuit and there seems to be a bit of noise on the graphics, mostly noticeable on the center horizontal area and on the edges of the red spectrum.
It looks like dancing edges.

Keith Courage

what kind of RGB amp are you using? some amps require there to be added a 220uf capacitor to each of the RGB signal wires in your cable.

Vimtoman

It's a premade pcb type. I think the chap sells them on here. It has a 330uf in series.
Looking at the picture the noise is mot just on the reds.
Its just a speckle of noise on the edges of the joints of color.
large sections are ok.

I did take the 5v and gnd off the HU6260.

mickcris

think you got it from me over at Assembler?

Sounds like maybe a ground issue?  What video connector did you use and is it grounded?  Also are you using a shielded cable?

Vimtoman

It's fully shielded and grounded.

You can see the interference on the edge of the picture when in 4:3 on the lcd.

I'm going to try a different PSU to see if thats the problem.

bad thing about running a scaled image on a fixed pixel display is there are multiple layers to the processing and lots of chance for errors

Vimtoman

TheSteve ... Are you saying that the TV's the problem?

It could be.  Also, what kind of converter are you using to go from RGB to whatever your LCD takes?  That could also be the problem.  I'd feel a lot better if you could test this system on an RGB CRT monitor...

thesteve

i am saying the issue could be the processing in the TV or any scaling/processing you have between the duo and tv
it could also be in your mod, but its less likely

Having only one display makes diagnosis of pretty much any video problem impossible. CRTs in particular are essential for helping figuring out WTF is wrong with your shit.

Havn't had a CRT for years.

I guess I'm asking too much from my plasma up scaling 240 to 1080/720.

It looks better than Comp.

Is there any way of getting round the vertical shift when using CSync?

I guess going for  a framemiester mini is one route but just a little expensive.

Anybody tried one of these units.

Is there a big delay.

GohanX

Your tv probably has more lag then a Framemeister. It's barely noticeable if your tv has low lag.

CGQuarterly

I just bought a Framemeister a couple of weeks ago.  I can't tell that there's any lag, and that kind of thing annoys the shit out of me so I'm pretty sensitive to it.  I really didn't want to drop that kind of coin on something that I really didn't *need*, but now that I have it, I don't regret it one bit.

SignOfZeta

Lag on Framemeister is, I assume, the same as any other XRGB; one field or half a frame. 1/60 of a second. You won't find anything digital that's better until someone invents line-by-line digitization or some shit.

Just get a CRT. Easier and cheaper.

If you have local thrift shop like Goodwill or Salvation Army, try those. They often have working TVs for under $10.

I got a nice 9" CRT TV with AV ports for only $3 and it works, it sits next to soldering iron station for testing video games while it's being modded.  Still looking for a decent bigger TV to replace my Commodore shit monitor.  RGB display smaller than 30-something is extremely rare and I have never seen Sony PVM anywhere cheap.  The drawback of living in USA is RGB display were poorly supported and expensive, then they wanted better and got HDMI which doesn't support RGB anyway.

Vimtoman

I'm based in the UK but I dont think I'm going back to CRT.
I love the picture my Panasonic Plasma gives on all TV stuff.
I know the CRT is the best medium to view this but I will probably save some money up and bag a Framemiester.

MNKyDeth

I love my framemeister XRGB-mini.

It was some change to drop on it but compared to any other upscaler I have tried I wish I never wasted on anything else. It's pointless to buy an upscaler unless it's a framemeister, imo.

Vimtoman

Thanks . Definitely getting one.
