@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

In the second case of plagiarism against asshole producer Timbaland, he has been caught red-handed using a melody from Chrono Trigger:

Timbaland is a buttmunch, along with Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, etc.  However, I can't get on his case for wanting to use a piece of a song from something he might love.  Rap started, by guys taking old records, & rapping over them, & mixing a beat.  And I do the same thing with my stuff, though, I don't like to call it rap, but, to anyone who hates rap in general, it's like for me to try n' tell the difference between country & western.  Either way though, I think Timbaland is wack, he's a sell out, only in it for the money.....like most commercial artists, which is one of the reasons I don't listen to much commercial music anymore, I'm just sick of it all. ](*,)

What's the big deal?  Isn't this type of music all about sampling?  Screw 'em - Timbaland's tunes suck hairy sacks anyway.

Ah geez....I've always been interested in rap samples.

But since all Chrono Trigger music was composed and recorded in Japan, good luck for Yasunori Mitsuda shooting a lawsuit at Tim.

This is SACRILEGE!

Kitsunexus

Yeah, I've noticed he's only ripped off foreigners (the first rip-off was in Finland).

But you know, PD is right. If he loves the games, I don't really care. It's just that if it were me, I would ask, and I would get clearance, and I would pay royalties...

Yeah, Timbaland can afford that kind of thing, these days, all the big producers & rappers can afford to rip other people's stuff.  If he were underground, I'd be cheering him on though......well, though, still, he IS Timberland, so, I guess I wouldn't be, but, if someone I respect in the underground does something like this, I get bummed if they get sued, though, they usually don't, since, they don't have any money, & don't make any real money.  It's only when they go commercial when they can afford this stuff.  I've personally made a song or 2 out of some Chrono Trigger stuff, just for fun, haven't had anything rock solid that I've felt was a "new" song created from an old one.

A good example of someone sampling from video games, & not getting in trouble, would be Adlib, & his song on his Save Us album, called Alucard.  And I'm pretty sure you all can guess, atleast what series he sampled music from.  I remember listening to it, after finally playing SotN, & it blew me away.  There's no rapping in it, it's just a mix, but it's pretty tight.

Alot of my stuff, I've sampled from Turbo games, but, I doubt I'll ever release anything, outside of the stuff I'm doing with Frozen Utopia, which, for 95% of the games, won't be hip hop or drum n' bass(I say that, cuz theirs one game, that we will evenually do, which is going to be that type of music, but without lyrics, aside from maybe an ending credits by me ).

They'll never do anything. They probably won't even read your e-mail.

Indeed, it's AV time. Check out: IMG! Sir, the door was open.

I doubt that they'll bother with this.  The most that legal action would gain is a cease and desist order.  If they wanted to sue for money - they'd have to prove damages, and I don't see how Square is financially hurt by this song.  They could try to go after some of the profits, but what percentage would be attributed to Chrono Trigger's tunes?  I'd say maybe .0000001%, or $10 (whichever is higher).  :|

Timbaland is a great producer, his solo stuff is fucking awful though.

Here's that track I was telling you about, where this particular underground artist(Adlib) samples some stuff most, if not all of you will recognize from a certain Transylvanian series.  The whole album is beats, no lyrics, but, anyways, here's the song Alucard 8)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/B0000507WD001010/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_010/102-9526023-0456135

Here's the listing for the album on amazon(I'm actually surprised they have a listing at all, considering there's probably only 1000 or so of this album ever made)
http://www.amazon.com/Save-Us-Adlib/dp/B0000507WD/ref=sr_1_1/102-9526023-0456135?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1178009066&sr=1-1

Just realised, I think the son Ambient, uses a sound from that series as well.

You'll all probably think this album is crap, but, whatever, I don't care, it's not commercial AND I like it.  He's actually a cool guy to talk to as well, though, it's been several years, back when I had a Nutzero account :P
