No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Does anyone have any info on which games had save capability through the TurboBooster Plus or the CD Add On?  I was curious as to whether it was a popular feature or just an afterthought with the HuCards?

A lot of Turbo & PC Engine HuCard games use the backup feature.

A few TG-16 games that I know of are-

Neutopia
Neutopia 2
Dragon's Curse
Order Of The Griffon
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Most CD games can create back-up files.  It was a rare feature on TurboChips in the beginning but became somewhat more common in the later releases.

This question came up once and someone on here mentioned a diehard Turbo-List member who once made a list of every domestic game that uses the battery back-up and even how much space each file used.
Unfortunately, no one ever unearthed the information.

Without double checking, these are the games I know use battery back-up.  A question mark means I'm almost positive.  I own some other games I think might use the feature, but I'd have to check.

         Andre Panza Kick Boxing
         Ballistix
         Battle Royale
         Bomberman
         Bomberman '93
         Champions Forever Boxing
         Devil's Crush
         Dragon's Curse
         Falcon
         Final Lap Twin (?)
         Jack Nicklaus Turbo Golf
         Neutopia
         Neutopia II
         Order Of The Griffon
         Parasol Stars (?)
         Soldier Blade
         World Court Tennis (?)
         World Sports Competition

I suppose I should stop calling it "battery back-up" considering there's no battery in the hardware.    #-o

I'm not sure if there's a full list floating around anywhere, but personally, I don't think you'd be missing it all that much for card games.  Majority of the card games seem to be of non-adventure/RPG variety, and most of these don't use the backup feature.

That said, I'd say it's imperative to have a CD add-on if you're to fully appreciate the TG/PCE library.  Which in case, you'd have the save ram anyway as stated in the other thread.

Adding some random games to the list:
Power League IV
Super Momotaro Densetsu
Parasol Stars (confirming above post)

If you want to play Order of the Griffon (I recommend it), you'll save yourself a lot of grief if you get TB Plus or TG-CD. Why worry about passwords if the game supports saves?

Wouldn't it be more useful to list games that have passwords, but not save ability? since those are less common, the list should be easier to compile, right?

the only 2 i know of are Zipang and War of the dead.

I've just come across the list vestcunt wrote about.  I added 2 more to the list because they weren't included and I know for a fact they
DO save. If anyone knows of any others please let me know. US Hu-Cards that save using the Turbo Booster Plus or Turbo CD/Duo are the following:

                           Andre Panza Kick Boxing
                           Bomberman
                           Bomberman 93'
                           Champions Forever Boxing
                           Chew Man Fu
                           Cratermaze
                           Davis Cup Tennis
                           Devil's Crush
                           Dragon's Curse
                           Falcon
                           Gunboat
                           Jack Nicklaus Turbo Golf
                           Neutopia
                           Neutopia 2
                           Night Creatures
                           Order of the Griffon
                           Parasol Stars (my addition)
                           Soldier Blade
                           Super Volleyball
                           Tiger Road
                           Timeball
                           World Sports Competition
                           Yo'Bro (my addition)

If this list is complete it would mean a total of 23 HU Cards have save capability.

Games that do not save but use passwords:

                            Boxy Boy
                            Cybercore
                            Double Dungeons
                            Dungeon Explorer
                            Final Lap Twin
                            Impossamole
                            King of Casino
                            Military Madness
                            Sonic Spike
                            Tricky Kick
                            Tv Sports Basketball
                            Tv Sports Football
                            Tv Sports Hockey
                            World Court Tennis

Soldier Blade? Whats the backup for high score? because I never noticed I could continue after shutting my TG16CD off?

kid_rondeau

I don't think Parasol Stars uses the backup feature...does it?

NecroPhile

I'm reasonably certain that Soldier Blade only keeps the high scores.  Vestcoat - what does Parasol Stars save?  :-k

Bubble Bobble III: Parasol Stars saves the high score list. Additionally, apparently it also saves bits of information like how many times you've played, items collected each play, etc. I doesn't actually save your game state but it will save just about everything else.

Yes, from memory I think Soldier Blade only saves high scores, which is a shame really.

I finished Tiger Road for the first time last night, I had been playing it for the last month or so.  It's the first game I have played for which I can truly
say I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all had I not had a Turbo Booster Plus.  I picked it up and played it a couple times a week and gradually got further
and further into the game.  I must have used my backup about a hundred times before finally defeating the last boss.

I wish more Turbo games made use of the Backup memory, especially some of the action/adventure games, some of which, at least for me, are
difficult to beat in one sitting.

Agreed - Camp California needs save support more than any other Turbo game.  It isn't particularly difficult, but it is way too long for one sitting.
