Getting along on the public boards

I think we as mods should make more of an effort to get along and support each other's decisions on the public boards.  I am referring to the recent thread which Nat locked, Keranu unlocked and then Nat locked again.  Members could see this as kind of a "good mod, bad mod" situation and run to one mod when another does something they don't like.  I've been guilty of this myself at times and it is not a good situation to be in.

We can disagree with each other all we want, but we should argue about it here in the mod forum away from prying eyes.  If we support each other on the public boards, then the community will see us not as individuals with our own agendas, but as a team just trying to keep the place sane.

I agree 100%, you make a very good point. That's why I suggested this area be created, heh heh. I think we've all been guilty of this at one time or another though.

The exact same thought was running through my mind at the time, to be honest. But to me it was quite obvious Xiphas was trolling/playing a game and the direction that thread was headed was not good for the health of the board IMO. I know Keranu is friends with Xiphas in "real life," but my instinct was to nip the problem in the bud before it got out of hand. Nothing constructive was being offered in that thread, and it was strategically placed there to create conflict between certain members (which it was beginning to do while it was still active).

I've got no problems with threads centering on serious discussion of the "new" (they're not really new at all if you paid any attention at all to the old registration agreement) rules, but this was pretty far removed of anything of the sort. I would classify the thread in question as a "garbage" thread.

The reason I wanted to leave the thread around at all rather than removing it right off the bat was so that Aaron & Joe would be able to read it and give their own input. You guys think I'm off base here? Please-- be honest.

Either way, we all ought to be a little more mindful of the other mod's viewpoints and opinions when making judgement calls like this. And probably should confer a little bit before taking action. My apologies.  :D

I have no beef with anyone, but I do have different opinions obviously. I mostly unlocked the thread as a joke to show how I am above the law for a reason "against the law", but I don't really care what happens :P . It's Aaron's board and he can run things however he wishes and it might be best for him to un-mod me now :) .

I don't think anyone's asking you to hand in your badge, unless that's what you actually want to do.  :)

We're all going to have different views at one time or another, but that's part of why having more than 1 moderator is a good thing. Checks and balances. Joe's point was simply that the check-and-balance process should've happened away from the eyes of the regular forum community. Same reason two parents should never fight in front of the kids.  :P

Nah it's pretty useless for me to be a mod now since all I ever did was move threads and occassionally lock a thread if necessary. I would never ban someone or anything like that, so you guys can take care of all that now. I do like peeking in the secret forum though!

Be warned that if you leave, we will up the secrets told in here x10.

I kinda did want to post up something to Xiphas as to why I have re-enforced the forum rules but didn't want to re-open the thread that Nat locked.  Regardless, I'm fine with it closed...it was just him venting about the rules and not really a real suggestion anyway.

Keranu, please let me know what you want to do with your status.  I'm fine with keeping you on as a mod, but if you wish to resign that is fine as well...it's really your decision.

It wouldn't be the same without Keranu.  :(
