Hello I'm new here.. so Hi  :D

I have had a shop do a RGB conversion on my PC Engine one or two years ago, i also bought a color booster cable.
I've have had everything working on my old Phillips Amiga monitor and a friends old sony tv..
Now one month ago i bought a new Sony flat screen tv, the problem is the screen on my new Tv works 80% only the top of the screen is messed up/fuzzy. Have any of you tried this, maybe somebody can tell me what makes this happen?  the weird thing is all of my other
consoles that have a RGB conversion done on them works fine on my new tv. Megadrive, Super Nintendo and Sega Master system.

Definitely a sync issue. Lcds are very hit or miss with what they like to sync with and how well they will sync. It can vary from make and model, you might get an lcd that syncs perfectly and then go to your friends house and on their lcd it will partially sync or not at all.

Lcd's are particularly picky with pce/tg-16 hardware, so I am not surprised that your other rgb modded systems work fine with no issues.

I can tell you that with my cheapo brand emerson lcd tv I had a very similar issue when I rgb modded my tg-16. On some games the very top of the screen would be distorted in a similar fashion, and on some bright flashing screens (notable examples being when you defeat a boss in bloody wolf that explodes, or when you start a stage in China Warrior) it would temporarily lose sync. However on Crt displays this did not happen at all. Turned out that I needed to get a REALLY good connection with the sync line tapped directly from the huc6260. However in general you are better off just sticking with crt displays. You get better quality with standard definition video which is what the tg-16/pce produces and no syncing issues.

Does it sync ok if you just use Comp video?

On RGB - does the sync problem only occur on some games or when the screen is bright?

hey Zeon thanks for your quick respond  :D
Im still trying to figure out this problem, bin looking on random forums to try to find somebody with the similar screen flicker..

Ravij, it's syncs perfect when I use Composite video, and the problem is the same in every game when I use RGB, there is no difference if the screen is bright or not.

I think this flicker could be an issue with the sync. I want to open the PCE and see where the sync is tapped from. I saw this MOD guide where it looks like there are to places to get the sync from, I have a friend that are really skilled with a soldering iron, so if I change the sync maybe this could resolve the problem..

If tapping the sync from the Hu6260 Processor doesn't fix it, still use that connection and try a low uF capacitor. Sometimes having a little charge delay to the sync helps with this problem. Try a 0.01 or 0.10 uF ceramic cap.
