My wife and I are in desperate need of a loan to keep our house. I was trying to raise enough money by pawning off just about everything I own but it's simply not enough. We have an exceptionally profitable plan in the works right now but it will take as much as another month to totally bring together...in the meantime, we are in need of a lot of cash right now or we are going to lose our house. We really need to keep this place but we have to come up with just over $800 in the next week. So if there's anyone at all out there who could lend a hand, even if it's a little bit, we would be forever in your debt and we will repay you with interest over the next few months. I know these are very hard times for everyone and I really, REALLY hate to ask this kind of thing...it seems like I'm begging, and perhaps I am. But we don't want to raise our kids in the slums (which is what we're facing if we can't keep this house), and we know that once our plan comes to fruition, we will never have to worry about money again. But we have to be able to hang on for that amount of time, and right now, the chance of that happening looks bleaker every day. :(

Some good news did come about today...my wife was able to buy some time with the owner. He is not interested in throwing us out yet as long as we can provide a check for August. The problem is that her bank account has to pay off two payments totaling over $600 in the next couple of days...that's about all we have right now, which doesn't come close to covering the cost of our house. She is going to deposit an incoming check for $350, and hopefully the pending sale I have here on the forum for another $400 remaining will come in before Friday...that leaves us with $100 to supply before the end of the week, which we may be able to make this week in sales at our little food stand. However, that only takes care of August...we still have to cover September, which is now upon us. She was able to convince him to let it float until mid-September, which means we have to come up with that $850 by then. Her aunt might be able to help us out some but we don't know yet. I have no family to turn to for help. Another part of the problem is that we still have to buy more supplies for our business, which takes out of any potential money we could put towards our house. On top of all of that, I've been attempting to fix up the old house in Camuy (the one not suited for raising our kids in), and that is also eventually going to cost us money...though fortunately, I am not going to invest any money until our new plan takes off so that gives us a little relief.

And you wanna know the biggest, most idiotic irony of the whole thing? Her mother's father is a millionaire...and I'm not kidding...he has millions upon millions of dollars in both cash and assets. An ordinary person could comfortably live off of the interest on ONE of his bank accounts...and he has many of them. He could easily help us eliminate our debts with his pocket change. But guess what? He won't give her a penny. We have already inquired and begged for his help many times, and he continues to refuse...he constantly makes up bullshit stories about why he can't help (usually involving his accountants) and has a reputation amongst both sides of her family as being the biggest cheapskate ever. He has never helped ANYONE in the family in their time of need. His older brother has told him repeatedly to let go of the money, because this is when his family needs it most...raising children, bad economy, etc. but still he hangs onto it, as if he's going to take it to the grave with him. Her other grandfather (her father's side) sent her some money, and he's far from being rich...he just wanted to help his granddaughter in her time of need. But this one couldn't care less.

Heh, I think most of the family has hoped for that for years...this family has extraordinary longevity though, so it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. The cheapskate's older brother is 94 years old and still in pretty good shape...cheapskate is the youngest, and though he's over 80, shows no signs of dying anytime soon. No one is going to openly say "I wish he would die so we can get all his money", but the reason most of his family stays away from him is because he is an obnoxious fruitcake who lost his brain-to-mouth filter many years ago. Once he does finally meet his maker, he is leaving all of his accounts and properties to his children (already outlined in his will), so they all won't have to worry about anything for the rest of their lives. Of course, by the time that happens, they'll also be old, so what use will it be aside from retirement?

My wife and I have talked about all of this many times...if we had the money from even one of his accounts, not only would we be able to live the rest of our lives without money worries, but we would also use that money to benefit Puerto Rico...we would create new industries here, as well as help revitalize Puerto Rico's tourism business with a unique new information system. See, the major problem with the economy in the US (and that, in turn, affects PR too) is that the few people at the top with all the money are hoarding it...and he counts among them. The economy stagnates and then declines when the richest at the top of the food chain keep all the money for themselves. Of course, most of them are old people like him and they simply don't give a shit...

guyjin

rich people rarely get rich by giving money away.

OldRover

They get rich by having money handed to them...know where I'm going with this? :) hehehe

Besides, he's already rich, and we never asked him for a handout but a loan that would be repaid with interest.
