Interest in S-Video encoders for sale?

D-Lite

I'm toying with the idea of selling the encoders I make for the Turbo.  Perhaps a kit with the needed S-Video mount too.

I ask here and not in the sales forums because it's not really a sales question but a question about whether people would want to do it themselves.  I also have gotten to the point where I need to order more chips and the price is about $20 higher.  Meaning, in the very near future, rather than the price of the mod being $60 plus shipping (about $75), it'll be about $80 plus shipping.  So instead I can sell the encoders for about $60 plus only about $5 shipping.  Cheaper option for folks.  You see, I need to order the encoder chip itself in quantities of about 50 which ain't cheap.

I say its a damn good idea. I am not trying to compare your work to Jeff Kurtz too much but he gives that option as well with the NeoBitz designed for the Neo Geo. I think I saved close to $20 in shipping.

As long as you got a good "how to guide" it will be extremely helpful in every way for the electronically literate people. I just enjoy doing this, I just modded my Genesis myself with S-video. Of course for the Duo I kinda want it done by you if I do it soon. As for later on it will save people enough money to be worth it I think. Also I never got the bit to open it. Maybe adding the option with the screw bit would be a good idea also.

Master Of Pain

I am also interested in DIY'ing this mod!  :D

Hey D-Lite sent you a PM on the Neo-geo.com forums about a Turbo Duo S-video question.

SNKNostalgia

Hey D-lite I still got no response on the neo-geo.com forums, so i will just post it here. I have an extra CXA chip on a dead cd-drive US SCPH-1001 PS1 system. I was wondering if I could use that with my mod and get a difference on the price that way? And it keeps you 1 + up on a chip to use on another mod later.

I'd be interested in one or two if you added pots for the colours as I'm not really planning in sticking them into a pce, do it your self kits wouldn't really matter either if it's easier for you.

Not only would I be interested in buying one, but I'd be interested in buying a few, and offering the service at www.oldschoolgamer.ca.

Much like I offer Neo component mods featuring NeoBitz technology, and offer Atari mods featuring 8bitDomain technology, I'd love to offer yours, giving credit to the source as credit is due.  8) This would provide a link to your site as well, so if people wanted to go to the source, they could (assuming you wanted to offer them installed as well).

It's worked out well for 8Bitdomain, as since we've partnered up, I've moved more than 8 kits (6 months), and I only need stripped kits (no jacks, harnesses or cabling) as I already have all of that stuff.

You know how to get in touch with me Dean!

Ive got a better one for you D-lite,interested in making AC-3 kits and comb filter kits for laserdisc players???Can you do it,huh huh huh???? Can you,can you,I dare you to try,can you????And even better, can you make a LDV4200 out perform a X9 or X0 player, huh huh can you huh huh huh????
Its a dare,can you do it ^__^
On a interesting note,I just remembered this, although I doubt any of you will try this, there is a special green paint you can get for LD players and cd players, that you use to paint the tray area,to help the laser reflect better without bounce back from the tray area,to cause for a better read.Anyone ever think to try this on their Duo,TG CD?Not only does this improve play back on LDs,but cd audio is improved somewhat,2-10 percent, depending on the player.

You can do it D-lite,just slap a cooling fan on those babies, disect a line doubler and hack it to bits, cram it into that ldv-4200,do a ac-3 mod,and get that baby going right!!!!
Make it do progressive like no one cares!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually I figured youd be up to the the task,at least in spirit.....

PCEngineHell

The LDDB people need your help D-Lite!!!!!
There are plenty of people who need ac-3 upgrades, that are clueless about taking apart a ld player all the way.
You could make a good chunk of change if you get good at it.
The comb filter bit Im teasing about. But they do need a good tech guy to do Ac-3 mods,as not many people do them.
I can do the crap, but i hate taking a player completely apart and rebuilding it.But you.....you could do it.....

hey michael... I'm intrigued by this "green paint" you mentioned. Any links? Not to doubt you, but it certainly sounds like a bad infomercial product :).

I can not find the paint product anymore on the net.But if you visit a local high end audio cd store of some type Im sure they would know what its called.I have not seen it sold in a long time myself.Basically it was used to paint the tray green,to stop laser lite reflectivness. This was supposed to improve audio and in ld case picture too.
I never cared to use it.The 2 links above, that stuff does basically the same thing, except you place it on the disc, which id never do.Sorry I dont have more info on it.
Hit  a pro audio cd player store though like I said, maybe someone might remember the stuff.

esteban

thanks michael. Pretty crazy stuff. If you ever stumble across more links, I'd be interested to see them :)
