Hahahahaha. Great title.

Did Skitchin' make this episode?
Nah, but dem Joes did. :3
Let's see how much the price of the lone ranger shoots up after this. To be honest though, it still looks pretty week for a Konami title.

o.pwuaioc

I had no idea the GI Joe title was supposed to be good. Added it to my list now, thanks! The rest seem rather mediocre, but I may keep my eyes open for that weird Bimini game.

Great episode as usual. Although, you know what struck me ? Dave sounds much more relaxed, natural, and confident during his voice segments. It sounded like he was actually conversing with us rather than reading from a script.  Bravo!

The infamous Bayou Billy for NES is actually much easier in its original Japanese form, called Mad City. It's not a great game, but it's not a "What were they thinking?" bad game.

Tatsujin

yeah, came quite far in mad city the first time i've played it, until I switched it off due to boringness.

Well, yes, and no.  On the one hand, they kept on talking about "sipping", which isn't slang I know in any language.  On the other hand, their delivery is way more animated than those Colorado guys.

Joe Redifer

Yeah, suck got translated to sip somehow. Translated back it still said "suck" but I guess it meant in the literal term.

I know some of you think I'm crazy, but I beat NES Bayou Billy back in the day. I paid good money for it and I was stuck with it.

Holy crap, if I could tell you how many times I got the final boss down to a few bars and BAM! I'm dead. It was demoralizing, infuriating to get so close...

I actually liked the lightgun and driving segments. They were much better than the beat-em-up stages (some enemies took TOOOOOOOOO MANY HITS before they finally died).

I have yet to play Mad City...but I will, one of these days.  I thought I had the Famicom cart, but I haven't found it yet (still unpacking from my move 8 years ago).

That's amazing, dude.

The main differences in the original Mad City are that the enemies take fewer hits, your guy can take more hits, I think the enemy AI is a little less aggressive, and the driving stages have wider roads.

That would certainly make the game easier—all those changes Konami made for North America...they could have just done one (or two) modifications (and it still would have been a challenge).

I also almost beat Super Pitfall (or maybe I beat it? I can't remember, but I came damn close). This was on NES with no cheats or saves or breaks...just playing the damn game. I never read a FAQ, and it was before videos...

This game could have been a really nice little game if they had tweaked it.

another great episode. How about an episode on "controversial" games?

Hey Joe, great show brotha man... I was thinking, how about an episode on PC-Engine only games.  I know you do left in Japan, but an episode dedicated to the pc-engine would be great. It would be great to see what you have to say about the games, showing games that are import friendly and don't require you to know Japanese.

thanks mang!

Just wanted to let Joe know that I'm another fan of the show. I've been hooked on GameSack since I stumbled upon the Saturn show (as an aside, I must have dropped thousands on Saturn games and whatnot since then; your show has been a catalyst for rekindling my collecting flame).

Show suggestion: your shooter episodes have always been favourites of mine, especially the PC Engine and Genesis ones. Have you ever considered doing similar episodes for the DC, PS1/2 and/or 360? A MAME shooter special would also be fantastic.

Anyways, keep up the good work and looking forward to Sunday's episode.

Totally agree with how Goldeneye hasn't aged well.  Man we had so much fun with that one back in the 90s...  So many late nights playing multiplayer or slogging through the single player.

Wii version of Ghostbusters is the best, same premise, but with cartoony graphics, idk it just feels better.

I am sure it's been said elsewhere but the back to the future game that was episodic was released on disk for the PS3 and I think Wii.

I have the PS3 copy for $5 when I bought it used maybe 2 years ago. So you can probably find it for just as cheap or less

As always, good show Joe and Dave.  For a future movie based games episode, please include Die Hard and Addams Family to get some Turbob action involved..... even if both games are rather meh.

It took a major graphical hit and doesn't take any advantage of the motion control.  This being from a friend's account ....

He said he bought it thinking he would beable to use the wii remote to guid the beam and catch ghost and it simply wasn't designed to use it at all so it felt like the less attractive (great personality) verson of the 3 games.
