Best Genesis/MD shooters???

So yeah! Choose according to your opinion, or opinion of your best friend.

For me-

Gaiares (Easily the best 16 bit shooter ever made, nothing can touch the brilliant level design of this. The difficulty is just perfect.)

Musha (Best Complie shooter)

Bio-Hazard Battle (really well made. Perfect combination of memorization and reflexes)

Truxton (Much more balanced)

Wings of Wor-GoDamn this is underrated!

I picked Bio-Hazard Battle, Steel Empire, and Wings of Wor since they are the only ones I have and have put some real time into. Of those three, I think Wings of Wor is my current Fav, but all 3 of them are a ton of fun.

Gaiares and Thunder Force IV are probably amongst the top in my favorite-shooters-ever list (along with LoT and Spriggan), and Musha isn't far behind.

I would've also added Arrowflash, Elemental Master, Whip Rush, Kyūkyoku Tiger/Twin Cobra, Slap Fight, Undeadline,
US AAF Mustang, Viewpoint, and what others mentioned! You'd be surprised what others feel are their favorite shooters.

My personal vote is MUSHA Aleste. It might not be the best but it's my personal favorite.

OK I added all those games. But what is wrong with Raiden for Sega??? It is a pretty solid port of the game.
Sure little details are removed and somethings simplified, But I like this port.

I have a history with Thunder Force 3, so I adore it. Even over Lightening Force, much to my fellow local gamers puzzlement. I also have not played enough of the R@REs (Gleylancer, Eliminate Down, etc) but I'm sure they're just peachy. Musha get's my #2 vote, Compile had me at Spriggian. I never got into Gaiares...bought it when it came out, beat it and traded it out. It's good, but I'd rather hold on to TF3/Musha.

Personally I think MD Musha Aleste is lame, PC Engine Spriggan is sooooo much better in every way!

It's such a poor port. they used like 4 colors for the entire game

, that is even too less for a genny game. therefore we also call it Raiden Fraud.

The PCE one looks so much better.

Yeah I forgot to mention that one TurboStar. Half the games on that list were recently put up there from my suggestions, and others. I see quite a few I suggested got a few votes from others. So that is good. Phelios is actually pretty good even on MD/Genesis. But since DDD hates Dragon Saber I doubt he'll put Phelios on there.

Grind stormer and curse? you kidding me. Curse is self explanatory (iz average), But G.S. is littered with flicker and slowdown. Has bad graphics when compared to the arcade version (why did they even try?). The whole thing is pretty ordinary. I guess you don't have much experience with shmups. Shoot me a PM so i can recommend shmups that will boost your standard. : )

Well Raiden is a classic you know. It came during the golden age of shooters (90s), and it's super addicting. G.S. came years after, and it's pretty average. no excuse.

yea the arcade version was classic. the MD and Jag are probably the worst ports. You would be amazed how much better it is on PS1...

What is wrong with the genesis Raiden exactly? If it's the graphics, than play it on the system with dithering in affect (illusion of more colors).

I can't even call you guys gamers now, because you are basing a opinion on graphics alone. I keep telling you that the game play is intact and fun as ever.

As for being the worst port, Where do you place the Snes version with its flawed design. Not to mention the Lynx version.

If you take the game based on its merits (forget better ports and all that crap), Raiden is one of the best shotoers on the Genesis. Nothing can take away from that.
What makes arrow flash, Whip rush, Curse, elemental master more deserving is beyond me.

We are talking about SG shooters here, not superior ports.

If you consider this game in comparison to other shooters on the Genesis, It IS one of the best shooters on the system in terms of game play.

Take it for its merits. I will get another "superior ports/bad graphics" post I know. Now who is repeating shit over?
