The trick is, you can juggle enemies non stop to amass muchos puntos.

so then it becomes a test of how many free lives you can amass, and how little you die.

I've never had much luck juggling them for to long. I can keep them going for a little while but not to long.

Maybe I'll give it another shot but seeing as I tend to lose more lives then I earn I'm guessing I won't top it. lol

The best place to juggle, imo, is the level early on when you're inside the dinosaur. Just before the first boss. You can bonk things up against walls and get the timing down. I think they take 17 hits before they stop giving bonuses. If you go though that level and juggle everything, you're off to a good start.

The problem with Bonk's Adventure is the same as that with LA; there is a spot in the game with respawning enemies that allow you to simply max out the score counter with the juggling trick, given enough time (which is obviously what the high scorer did). Exploiting this stuff is a means to an end, but it takes essentially drains all the fun out of it, in my humble opinion.

that's why ties are resolved by lives-left. Either way, you are demonstrating that you are better than the other person at the game.

Thing is, lives are awarded by points, and if you stop gaining more points you'll stop gaining 1-ups from points. There are a limited number of 1-ups in the game, and while you can have more than 14, I don't know that you can have many more...

I don't see what the problem is. Get more than 14 lives to be in first place. AKA: Don't die as many times as Necromancer did.

In this picture (from the high score thread) I ended the game with 23 extra lives in tow, and I was only halfway to maxing out the high score counter.

I estimated you could probably max out the extra lives around 35-45 if you played impeccably and didn't die at all and maxed out the score at 999,999.

There are just a ton of hidden flowers that are exposed by bonking the ground in the right spot strewn throughout the game that reward extra lives. There's probably ~10 just in the waterfall ascent level near the end of the game, for example.

My point being that 14 is probably only a third of the actual maximum number of extra lives you could finish the game with. I was able to get 10 more than that with half the score.

The key to more lives is in the flowers, as you'll stop accruing extra lives for points when you hit 20 (or thereabouts). It's certainly possible to beat my 'score', as I had 30 lives going into the final level and could've preserved many more had I not run pellmell to the end.

I think I could do better on Super Star Soldier with a little practice, but since nobody is trying to beat my score, I guess I'm fine with it as it is. Not sure where I'll come up with cash if I win... Anyone need some work done? ; )

I was going to give SSS another go; probably won't be able to beat spenoza's score as I have very little time for games at the moment, but who knows. I figured I could at least try to improve upon my own score a bit.

I think people already end up spending too much on themselves in the run up to Christmas because of all the sales. Combine that with Christmas obligations and it gets hard to justify more expenditure. And given the contest is an opportunity to buy, I can see how the holiday timing might be bad. I think this whole affair would have probably worked better in Feb or March, because some people might be anticipating tax returns.

How many hu-cards are you hand-producing? I think I read a number on here before (10? 15?) but I couldn't find it again and don't have time to keep digging. Just curious! Only first-place for each game has an opportunity to buy one, right?

I personally think that is a good idea... I think having one of the first in the new generation of hueys is awesome and will likely have it go in my coffin next to the rest of my Turbo/PCE collection.
