Can you even buy NiCad batteries anymore? All my stuff is NiMH.

Going based off the manual.  Not sure if you can find NiCads anymore, don't care.  Anyone who has knowledge on my ask, would be much appreciated.  =)

I've heard many individuals on here mention using rechargable alkaline in their Expresses. Enerloop (is that right?) seems to be rather popular. I have 12 Energizer rechargables I use with mine. Nobody has mentioned the system going nuclear from it, so I'd wager you'd be fine. Just don't try to charge them inside the system. That's a big no no.

I've been using Eneloops in my my Lynx, GBA as well as my 360 and Wii controllers as well as pretty much anything else that needs AAA or AA batteries for over a year now. They are easily the best rechargeable batteries I've ever used, they hold a charge really well when not in use and have quite a decent life span in use. I bough mine from costco but I know you can also get them at specialty camera stores as well.

I use Duracell 1 hour NIMHs in my Wii controllers, since if they go dead I can have them back at full in 1 hour. They work great.

What sort of life span do they have? I can't imagine it being terribly long if they are always charged so quickly.

Well, I don't use the Wii that often, so I couldn't say. They have a decent mA rating, though. Basically, with rechargeable batteries, you want the highest mA rating you can get under a reliable brand.

i even used nicd in my TE BITD and the only issue is they get hot

I can post the type I used later, bought them from Fry's. I think they were 2000 MAH or maybe 2400. Seemed to get good life off these things too.

NIMH batteries tend to last longer in electronics than alkalines do, though they don't store well at all. Don't put rechargeables in your remotes, but do use them in high-drain items.

Duo_R

for my own peace of mind I never store them in my Turbo Express

mine is the TE with the proto switch-less region and 3.5" screen mods.

MotherGunner

Steve, how much battery life do you get?  Thanks

I have 2 sets of 6 Energizer 2300mAh for mine and I get 3.5 hours on a full charge per set. And mine is just a stock system with the typical cap change done to it.

thesteve

im actually not sure how good my battery life is.
i have yet to run through a set in a day.

Hmmm my TE pulls about 400mA so......about 5.5 hours

ive got a set of 3000mAh batterys coming that should give me 7.5 hours
