We've had discussions about the different audio libraries/sound sets used by various games. Perhaps we should collect our guesses together. For example, Soldier Blade and Neutopia II appear to use very similar waveform libraries, and Air Zonk and Coryoon seem to share more than just an audio engine. It appears to mostly be Hudson titles that share very similar audio arrangements.

On that note, what are some games which appear to use unique audio arrangements? I've got a few to get us started.

Dungeon Explorer
Bonk's Adventure
Parasol Stars

dungeon explorer sounds remind me of

Kyukyoku Tiger and Ankoku Densetsu.. and this is not a bad thing !!

I think magical chase definitely has it's unique sound especially if you can access the hidden sound option which sometimes crashes.. ><

no denying the variety of drum samples used in the konami HUcard games especially on parodius DA!?

Also love the subtle japanese sound percussion on Taito's jigoku meguri which I think it's soundtrack is very underrated..

CrackTiger

Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Arkhan Asylum

This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

1943 Kai seems to use the same audio engine as Coryoon and Air Zonk, if not the same composer.

Dungeon Explorer and Bonk's Adventure, I remember reading at one time were both composed by the same guy at Atlus. They probably share the same audio engine/library, as well. While the style of the tunes in each game is tailored to the specific atmosphere of the game at hand, once you realize they're both by the same guy, similarities in instrumentation and musical queues you never noticed before start jumping out at you.

Legendary Axe II, while it sounds just like DE in many ways, was composed by someone else.

Devil's Crush and Blazing Lazers sound very similar to me.  Also, whoever composed the Aldynes soundtrack is a god!

Yes and Aldynes doesn't even use sample drums.  That's my favorite part.

Of course! Both games were developed by Compile and share the same sound engine, probably the same composer. As a matter of fact, the following games are all by Compile and all share the same sound engine:

Gunhed/Blazing Lazers
Devil's Crush
Alien Crush
Cyber Knight

The game "Cyber Dodgeball" is also a cart-based game by Compile, though I'm not sure if it shares audio elements with the above titles.

The sound engines for Valis II, Dungeon Explorer, Legendary Axe II, Tatsujin, Saint Dragon, Maniac ProWres, Kyukyoku Tiger, and Bonk... were all done at Atlus by Macco (Masuko Tsukasa), even if the composers were different.
