I hadn't research on what specific plastic materials (beads) to use yet, but my brother and I are working on two approaches. First will be something much like this: http://www.techkits.com/pim/index.htm . And the other is two part resin (no melting) and rather pushing the material through, you pull it through the other side with a vacuum tank. But honestly, the plastic bead force injection method looks soooo much easier (which my brother prefers and honestly think what we'll probably end up using). Sometime in the next week or two, we're gonna machine the reserve molds from two large blocks of aluminum for the real mold. I just wanted this aluminum hucard for two reason; 1) it's an aluminum hucard! 2) if there's a delay in machining the molds or getting the injection equipment or whatever, then I can mess around meantime and make plaster type quick set with silicone layered mold for the two part resin trial and error process (I still plan on using the two part resin method because it has application for other stuff/hobbies that I'm into).

We also seem to own a copy of the same book...

I got that book back in 1999 and it was already old by then (I mean, the original version/print of it), but that was my first entry into assembly language (x86). I thought it was a great book. I just got it back after years of lending it to my brother

I like that PIM Shooter thing. IP is going to give you WAY better results, btw. I don't know of any two part resins that can be low/zero pressure injected and still give you a good non-porous, strong, final product.

Hmm, this probably shouldn't be in the dev section. I didn't make that hucard necessarily because I'm dev'ing on it. I've actually had the idea for make something like that for quite sometime. I made it because I'm merging two hobbies; machining and pce/tg16. I'm just getting into machining as if late (the equipment is damn expensive, but I now I have access to it). I need a bit of practice so I think I'll make some other TG16/PCE related stuffs.

 What do you guys think about a TG16 gamepad shell? I'm not sure I have all equipment for it, but I'd at least like to try.

 Mod: Please move this thread to either TG16 or PCE section.

Hey, hey, hey... I'm not a professional machinist. I'm not even an amateur, I'm still a novice ;>_>

 I worked on the "alucard" for about 6 hours. Most of that time is just setting up the machine/calibrating for each step of the process. Hell, after all of that I was off 0.001 of an inch on the hucard pcb area at the top compared to the bottom and the pcb wouldn't fit at the top because of it. Had to modify it by hand 

 There are some angles and stuff that I can't cut because I don't have the tool bits for it or tool attachments. Machinist make a lot of their own tools too and I'm not that far yet. I'd love to be able to machine a tg16 or pce shell at some point.

 Anyway, if I make some duplicate stuff I'll give it out if some of you guys are interested. I can't guarantee it'll be pro grade stuff though.

Hell yes, of course some of us are interested in that.

I am trying to think of projects that don't seem (initially, at least) to be too complicated...

(1) a gampad seems challenging (all the angles, the rounded edges on bottom, the "bump" raised center where the PCE/TG-16 logo is) -- BUT, if you simplified the design (keeping things flat, eliminating extra bumps) you might be happier (as a "beginner" project"). Regardless, this would also be the koolest item because pads are constantly used and visually interesting due to all the intricacies of design.

(2) Turbo/DUO Tap shell might be the easiest...though it isn't as visually interesting as a pad, and it doesn't get used/handled as frequently.

(4) THE MOST POINTLESS PROJECT: Make a TV Tuner shell (TG Express)! I might be the only person who would actually think this was kool. Sadly, I would only use the item for the A/V IN.

(5) I won't even mention the TurboBooster(Plus).

(6) TRULY THE MOST POINTLESS: A pachinko controller! You would probably get death threats from the less-mentally-stable members here for dedicating time and energy into a PCE pachinko controller.

I'll stop now, but, a DUO/Turbo Tap seems like a (relatively) easy project for an item that would actually be used.

I fully support any direction you decide to pursue, even if you simply want to make cigarette cases with the TG-16 logo .
