Thanks mother

Are you referring to the video quality or the actual rca jacks versus this mini din? I'm going to assume both just in cause. Video quality is like day and night versus the usual RCA (composite, yellow) on a HDTV as this mod utilize the YPrPb input. Using the mini din is less work then trying to mount the RCA jack and I think is better looking too:)

The winning argument for me in sticking with standard RCA jacks versus a mini DIN is that a) you don't need a special, non-standard cable, and b) you don't have to worry about ever losing said special cable. I did lose my SNES Composite/Stereo cable, but that was after I upgraded to the S-Video cable so it didn't matter. Could've used it for testing purposes actually, but oh well.

It can look fine, but yeah, it's harder/more work in drilling the holes properly, a guide helps, but even then it's tricky, plus there is a real estate issue or lack thereof (I had to do a few tricks to get 2 rows of jacks like that, plus S-Video).

I actually went with a VGA port and a VGA to composite RCA cable :)

turbokon

Cool, yeah it's a matter of preference really. I just prefer the mini-din for the TG-16 & pce as they fitt nicely with the existing opening. I usually go with rca's for units like the duo.

Thanks Turbo, quick question.  With your TG Component Mod, would I be able to use the Audio plugs on CD Dock in conjuction with the Component Mod?

Yeah, you'll have to pull the audio from the dock as the redbook (audio track) and adpcm (sound effects) for cd games processed on the dock side.  The component video can be pulled from the TG16 as all video is process by the hu6260. The component board can also be installed in the dock so that you can pull both audio and video from the dock.

Btw, the component boards should arrive today and I will spend the weekend assembling them:)

Thanks Brother, I am curious as to how the mod would look on the back of the dock and whether there is an advantage signal-wise.

No problem bro:)

Signal won't be any different as it's all connected to the hu6260. The problem would be finding the matching rca jacks for the component output.

Just completed my first component video mod for a customers. Adding the rca jacks was the hardest part with the pre-fab boards:)

Hey everyone, new member here! I am the mystery customer that got turbokon's first component mod. Just got by Duo back from him and in short, everything is working great!

Just a little background, I first got my Turbo Duo about 10 years ago. I think it was a new unit, still in the box coming complete with all the pack-in games and everything. When I was home over Christmas I busted it out again and wanted to get back into the scene. I was home again recently and that's when I first noticed some sound issues. I was playing Buster Bros and noticed that while the music was in tact, the sound effects weren't present. Thought that was kind of weird but didn't think a lot of it. By the time I got back here the sound was completely crapping out and that's when I searched out this place for help.

turbokon changed my caps and I also had him do a region mod. He then talked me into doing the component mod as well. I'm glad to say everything is looking fantastic and I would definitely recommend his services if you need your Duo fixed up or souped up.

Oh, and here's a picture that he sent me of the back of my unit with the component jacks and region switch.

Maybe I can do some AV and component comparison pics sometime later.
