So i ended up getting a good deal on them and they fit everything but a freakin Hu Card. I love it though because it would make it so easy to tell my growing collection apart from everything else once im done making inserts. However like said before I cant make them fit a hucard in a nice fit. Anybody else out there that has come up with a way to make these things work with their turbo/pc engine collection?

Also sorry if it is the wrong section but kind of figured it might be related

I use UGC's, but I never really thought about using them with hucards. I suppose you could get some anti static bubble wrap and put some in there to keep the game from rattling around. Me, I would jusy mod CD or DVD cases. You could probably use DS cases with a little dremel work.

SignOfZeta

It seems like that ammount of work/effort would be better spent obtaining games that already have cases.

It makes a lot more sense with Nintendo cartridge games, as complete NES/SNES/N64 games are retardedly expensive, while a UGC is what, 35 cents?

SignOfZeta

Ah yes, for cart systems with cardboard boxes. I see.

Personally I just leave them that way since that generic foggy plastic just ends up taking up more space and over time gets so scratched up it becomes even more foggy...The carts themselves are much nicer looking.

So what is the point of these things exactly? They are less attractive and less durable than the thing they are protecting. Have any of you gone so far off the deep end you put the Universal Game Cases into even larger Universal Game Case Cases or maybe bought plastic bags for your cases which contain other cases which contain games?

I definitely understand your point, although I have been looking into getting some of the universal game cases myself, for SNES, N64, and maybe NES. For me its mainly because I have both loose and boxed games and am looking to have them more uniform on the shelf together, instead of having a random box mixed in with loose carts or separating them on my shelf. Plus if I print out some inserts they will look nicer and make it easier for my friends/family to pick out a fun looking game to play.

Short version: I'm OCD and it looks pretty on the shelf. Also, protection from evil felines. I try to get cases for my consoles for this same reason.

Pretty much this.
all i was asking  was if somebody had come with a clever way to expand its use to HuCards. its all :/

For hucards I would probably try to rig CD cases to fit them. They would fit in with the original cases and would be way cheaper since you can buy CD cases pretty much anywhere. Also, I think there's a thread about doing just that around here somewhere.

I have a bunch of UGCs for my NES/SNES carts. They work great because they are close to the original NES/SNES box sizes and the carts are a good fit inside the case.

UGCs would be comically large for hucards.

A universal game case have to also fit a large sized box from the computer generation. Then to be truly universal they would also have to contain records, since games also comes on records.

I use UGCs mainly for loose Nintendo and Genny products, not HuCards.  However, one time I did make a "box" using a UGC and put my extra copy of Cadash with case and manual in there.  It's kind of funny that the UGCs are designed to fit a CD case as well.

For storing HuCards I would recommend DVD or Nintendo DS cases, and then sliding the game underneath the tabs originally designed to hold the manual.  The Cover Project came up with a couple good ways too, and using modified CD cases like others have mentioned works as well.  Personally, all my loose Hueys just sit in a stack on the table in sleeves.  That's the most protection I really needed since it keeps the dust off the contacts.

As for using UGCs to store other games, while they take up a fair amount of space I can totally see the benefit of using them over just stacking cart games like Genesis, SNES, etc.  For one, it keeps the dust off of them so you don't have to worry about the games getting dusty and musty and sunfaded, just the cases which are easily replaceable.

I would only get these if I wanted to print covers for them from the Cover Project... Which I've thought about doing a few times for loose Nes/genesis/other. Never wanted to put HuCards in one before though, just seems like a really innefficient use of space.

Just ignore his comments, he doesn't like anything...
I think it's a nice way to spruce up your loose carts if you print some cool inserts for them

I just buy generic empty CD jewel cases (or TV Sports Football, if the price is right), punch out the prongs in the center that hold the CD, and throw the HuCard and manual (if present) right in there. The sleeve is thick enough that it doesn't really move around in there.
