@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Awesome! I wish I owned those beauties :)

Scans for both ads are available here:
http://www.vgmuseum.com/ads/tg16/

But I would certainly be interested in seeing much cleaner scans of these two ads. Fix that scanner :)

NOTE: How many folks here think that the Splatterhouse ad looks like it was drawn by the same fellow who did the Keith Courage comic? Anyone have any info on who made the Splatterhouse and Bonk comics?

The third ad, linked above, must be from a comic book as well, because I have yet to see it in a glossy multi-platform gaming magazine (not that I've done an exhaustive search, but I've looked through a lot of old mags over the past few months).

Help :)

I remember seeing those back in the day.  Honestly?  Those two comics are what convinced me to buy a Turbografx-16.  How funny is that?

Keranu

Don't they have full scans of these on that Turbo Grafx 16 site?

Yep, just checked. Go here http://www.atari7800.com/turbo/propaganda.htm and look at the bottom ;) .

Nice! Now my scanner can be left alone ;). To get these ads of Splatter House and Bonk is very easy by the way, they are in lots of Daredevil comics and other marvel comics from early 90s. I think I will sacrifice my comics and frame the ads ^^.

Unfortunately, those are the same quality scans as the ones I linked to -- the contrast and color levels were adjusted to make it easier to read -- but the scans themselves are the same.

I want a larger image at a better resolution :)

OK, looks like I'll be getting some of these comics :) Do you recall the specific issues you found these in? That would be super helpful :)

I found the Bonk ads in :

Daredevil Vol.1 No 284, September, 1990

Also Included these "non turbografx" ads : Code Name : Viper (Nes), Wrath Of The Black Manta (Nes), Marc (Nes), Snakes Revenge (Nes)

Daredevil Vol.1 No 285, October, 1990

Also Included : Mission Impossible (Nes), Wrath Of The Black Manta (Nes), Total Recall (Nes), Fortress Of Fear & Amazing Spiderman (Gameboy)

I found the Splatterhouse ad in this issue :

Daredevil Vol.1 No 286, November 1990

Also included : Wrath Of The Black Manta (Nes), Gargoyes Quest (Gameboy), Video Game Master Books, Back To The Future part 1 & 2 (Nes)

They seem to be up all time on ebay for nice prices so no problems finding them :)

Ninja Spirit

I got some Turbo related scans myself.

Kinda wish I never threw away my early EGMs.  I had issue #4 all the way up to Playstation days.  My friend had back to issue #2.  But in our infinite wisdom, we just threw them out because they were old. :(  If I remember correctly issue #2 had the cover of TG16 vs Genesis with a bunch of random character graphics from the launch titles on a blue background and issue #4 was Batman for NES.  Man, those were the days! :)

Fortunately for me, I never tossed my PCE mags.

Edit:
Just did some quick research and my issue numbers were off.  Batman cover is issue #6.  Not sure about the other one though.

A big thank you for the interesting material Ninja Spirit! If you got more please show us!  :)

Ninja Spirit

No probs mamonohunter i still got my old magazines from the early 90's stashed. Later on in the Misc forum, I'll post a thread cuz I got wayyyy more scans than these and they're for other systems.

I have a somewhat expensive issue of X-men that has the Bonk comic in it. I saw it not too long ago when reading through it. Unfortunately, it's on newsprint paper meaning it won't scan well.

Johnny Turbo is so hilarious, I love the comic series! By the time Johnny Turbo was out though, there wasn't much hope for the Turbo Duo launch series, so it didn't really matter. I'm glad they made it because even without it, the sales wouldn't really have been affected and the comics are so damn funny!
