Yep, and someone mentioned Ys 1&2 and Beyond Shadowgate.  You mentioned Ys was already done and I mentioned Beyond Shadowgate was an English only release.

It is the best game ever made. It features standard JRPG elements, but is extremely original. It is modeled after Final Fantasy IV in basic ways, but is the peak the TM/FEOE theme, aside from maybe TM The Apocalypse IV.

I believe the only one that was released in English is the Neo Geo version. Sadly it's a mediocre fighting game and nothing at all like the rest of the series.
