I have a turbo express here that have a damaged wire ribbon that connects its controller pcb to the mother pcb. Any body knows where I can get these? I have considered soldering on each individual wires but rather have the ribbon if I can get one. Thanks.

They tend to be quite specific, but hopefully someone will know.

If you cannot find a new cable you can actually just solder a wire directly to the pins on both the board and the controller as a last resort. How many wires on your cable are damaged? You might only have to run one or two wires for just the bad parts. Also, I have done this in a pinch before but if only the end is bad or bent you can cut off the bad part completely and then use a small flat head or something that can scrape to dig out some more bare wire off of the cable.

One more thing, I am not positive and I don't have an express apart right now to check for sure but I think the cable that is used for a Chopsado is the same. Maybe ask Chop what CD drives he gets those cables from. I know I have gotten a couple from some old sony discmans before but I don't remember which models.

I don't know which ones are damaged. Sometime I get no audio, sometime no controls or only some control function and sometime I don't get both. After some adjustment to the ribbon, everything seems to be working now but it might knock out of place again. Yeah, I have considered soldering wires directly. I did see TE controller pcb with thr ribbon on eBay. I will also check with chop. Thanks.

i did the same on mine.
found a ribbon from something else (probably PC CDrom)and soldered it in

You can try cutting off the end of the cable and then scrape free some new contacts on the end of it. Typically the part that plugs into the motherboard is the bad end.

mine broke right in the middle where it folds
