In October of 2011, I hired a local Plastics Company to make over Thirty Thousand HuCard Sleeves.
I also hired a local packaging company, during that time, to make some custom 25-Pack Boxes for them, and some Shipping Boxes.
The 25-Pack Boxes have a very simple design, to save on $, and the Shipping Boxes can hold up to Four 25-Packs.
It is cheaper, both on shipping fees (weight), and on Packaging Costs, to have had the custom "Four 25-Pack Shipping Boxes" made, especially when I ship 1 to 4 HuCard sleeve 25-Packs outside of the US.

Another important feature of the Shipper is that it's dimensions are perfect for both the Domestic and International Shipping Labels that my Shipping Software prints out.
This is one of the main reasons why I'm able to fill orders so quickly, as I do not have to fill out any shipping labels by hand.
The Postage gets paid the moment I print out a label, so I don't have to fork over any $ at the Counter at the Post office, saving time there too.
Also, Online Postage is a little cheaper than paying in person, and I pass that savings on to you all.

Larger orders are shipped in standard off-the-shelf boxes, and smaller orders are shipped in a sturdy cardboard envelope, that's commonly used to ship CDs in. Both of them fully support the very same Domestic and International Shipping labels that I use on the boxes spoken of in the paragraph above this one.

All proceeds from the Sales of the HuCard Sleeves, and from sales of the other stuff at my website, goes towards New Product Development,
except for the $ I set aside to ensure that my products can always be reordered when stock runs low.
I'm in this for the long term, and am doing this because of my love for Gaming.  8)

If you want to bookmark my website, please bookmark the following URL, so it will load the Main Page instead of the HuCard Page, whenever you visit:

All New Product Releases, and Status Updates, are announced on the Main Page.
Also, the site is currently undergoing a redesign.
It is still fully functional in it's current form, so don't worry, your orders will go through just fine.
The Direct Link will still work when it's done, too, but you might miss out on some of the New Features if you bookmark the Direct Link instead of the Main Page, and forget to click "Main" in the menu.  :-"

Just want to be the first to say the quality of these sleeves are the absolute BEST and I was completely blown away with my purchase.  They look and feel just like OEM sleeves and I would argue they are better.  Also an important thing to note is that "New Product Development" SeymorOnion mentions include plans for the potential release of HuCard trays which I hope are available in the future!

I got my set, love 'em. They are near impossible to tell from the originals. However, some originals are ribbed, while others aren't? Was that the later TTI games?

I wish your cases you have planned would be closer reproductions to the original than you currently are thinking. I'd rather pay $1+ than have a fake looking TG-16 case. Additionally, you could make more of the holder bars, since plenty of cases in this world have broken ones of those. Your choice, but I'd appreciate you weighing in on that idea.

Also, I'd love to know, with 30,000 ordered, how many have you sold? I'd imagine there aren't 30,000 turbografx games left in existence! (kidding, but 30,000 is a huuuuuge number!)

Any vague ETA on the HU cases?

8bitForLife

i ordered 5 myself. I would also like to say instead of the all in one case project I would rather get like the post above me cases that are closer to the originals namely tb16 pce and sega saturn. If someone would start making replica saturn cases they would be a rich man as i know people would pay good money for them and extra for good packing materials since usps sucks at careful handling.

I've sold several thousand HuCard Sleeves, so far.
I had to make so many all at once in order to get decent pricing, and to help offset the costs of tooling.

Quote from: guestFYI, the top left character gives a 404 error when you click it - http://www.seymoronion.com/index.html
That's actually on purpose.  :D
It makes it easier for me to test out some stuff that's being designed for the 404 Page.

Quote from: KaijuboyAny vague ETA on the HU cases?
Prototyping can take up to a month, to make sure I get all the case designs perfected.
The Kickstarter Fundraiser/Pre-Order Campaign will take 30 Days.
Manufacture will take between 1 to 3 Months.
That sets a tentative ETA to December, at the earliest.
I don't have enough $ to start the Prototyping Phase, yet, but I'm getting closer.

Quote from: 8bitForLifeI would also like to say instead of the all in one case project I would rather get like the post above me cases that are closer to the originals namely tb16 pce and sega saturn. Bold mine, and AMEN.
The same goes for every package carrier, really.
Rest assured that this issue is in the front of my mind, and I take it very seriously when designing custom shipping boxes, and packing methods.

I would certainly like to repro the big Saturn/Sega CD Jewel Case Boxes, Inner Trays, and spacer foam.
Same goes for the original style TG16 Tray w/Plastic Arm.

The thing is, they are rather fragile, and I'm going to need to have a lot of extra $ saved up,
so I'll be able to deal with the ones that arrive, broken, at my Warehouse.
This mostly applies to the Sega CD/Saturn Cases.

The potential for damage while en route from the manufacturer to my Warehouse, for the OEM TG16 Trays & Arms,
can be mitigated by having them just send them separately, and I'll just glue the arms in myself,
or let you guys do it when your orders arrive,
or alter the design somewhat so they can snap in, and no glue would be required.
I could have them make some extra arms too, so they could also be sold separately, to people that just need the arms.

Would you guys mind if I made the following alterations to the OEM Style Cases, for SegaCD/Saturn?
1. Make the Manual Holder a hard transparent pocket, with a semi-circle cutout near the middle, on the inside of the case, so you can grip the manual for easy removal.
This will prevent sagging manuals, and indentation of the four OEM Manual holding Tabs.
It will also allow support for the shorter SegaCD/Saturn Manuals.
You can print out a single-sided insert/page that'll be visible from the outside, while the case is closed, so it would like like it came with a Tall Manual.
They'll probably make some for that very purpose, over at TheCoverProject.net once I start making the cases.

2. A Push-Button style CD Center-Hole Gripper.
It will remove the need for a Foam Rectangle Spacer, to keep the disk secured inside the case.

3. Mold some small "Pinchers" into the inner tray, to support the addition of an extra smaller tray or two, to handle the few multi-disk Saturn Games.
The extra smaller trays would be sold separately, because there aren't that many multi-disk Sega CD/Saturn Games.
Note: The Game Case would look exactly like the OEM Case from the outside, when the case is Closed, and the rear tray would fully support OEM Rear Tray Inserts.

Unfortunately, I don't think that I can make either of the above, on my first run, as they might require making a Second Mold for the Clear Plastic parts; ie: another 10 to 30 thousand dollars.

My First Run Plans involve a Single Modular Mold that will be used to make a bunch of similar-but-different Cases, all with the same base materials.
I might be able to designate part of the Master Mold to those clear plastic parts, and have the cavities for the other case designs filled with a temp brick or something, but the bigger the mold gets, the more it costs, and there is a point of diminishing returns, where it'd wind up cheaper to just make a dedicated mold for certain things, instead of a single massive mold.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.
I'm going to look into reproducing the OEM SegaCD/Saturn and TG16/PCE case designs, after the first run of my current designs gets made.

8bitForLife

well it is your project and i would gladly fork over money for sega cd cases and saturn cases. Im just anal about it being close to the original as possible so the potential value wont decrease that much it not being an original case.  Its not only my game collection but it might take care of an operation of a funeral cost if one ever should arise.

your ideas on pce cases are super btw iv been reading about your project for awhile

Now I only have a few left of my original order, and about 6 - 7 loose games on the way. Guess I'll be ordering more very soon

They should arrive on Wednesday, or Friday, at the latest.

If you have a nice sized Mailbox, make sure it's clear of Mail, starting on Wednesday, so your postman can fit em in there, and ya won't have to go to the post office to pick em' up.
The package is approx 9 x 6 x 2 inches.

I'm glad ya like em'.

You're my first Hawaiian customer. It's good to hear that the USPS got them to you so quickly.

Ever since the announcement of the USPS's downsizing, earlier this year, I've noticed that the # of hops packages take, to get to my customers, has been steadily decreasing. Most packages are going right from Houston to the Target State or Country.

I know a lot of people knock the USPS, even me, on some occasions, but it seems like they are sincere about improving their level of service. I hope they keep it up!  8)

well being in Hawaii sucks because if i get screwed and packages go through Richmond CA, it well take a month to get to me or not at all. that distribution center is a black hole.

and several of my stuff has come from there which sucks because I got a brand new dc controller in box and box was trashed and I'm still waiting on 3 games for the dc and 1 crazy taxi action figure. The 3 home-brew games I bought for the dc just arrived in new york so I hope to god they don't go through Richmond ca. i think they ship stuff from there on a tugboat.

I'm not sure what you mean by "for people to replace the color changing parts"
unless you are referring to the early model SNES Consoles (the top half turned yellow).

Replacement Shells for Carts and Consoles are on my To Do List.
I have em' scheduled for sometime after the Game Cases and HuCard Trays are made, and have been selling for a while.

Do these sleeves work for pc-engine games that have those notches to hold the sleeve/hucard in place?

SeymorOnion

#26
Are you referring to HuCards such as the Arcade Card Pro?
Here is a picture of an Arcade Card Pro, and it's official Sleeve:
IMG

My sleeves do not have those two small holes on the right.

If you can fit the Arcade Card Pro into a standard non-hole sleeve, then it will also work with my Sleeves, because mine are the same dimensions as the OEM sleeves w/o holes.

If you PM me your mailing address, I can send you one to test out, if you promise to post pictures of your attempts to get it to work with the HuCards you are asking about.

You can cut some holes in my sleeves, if it is necessary, but I wouldn't recommend breaking-off the tabs in the Arcade Card Pro Case, because that would impact it's resale value.

I will never be selling any of my turbo/pc-e stuff, haha so I'm not worried about resale value.  I need to check my games, but I think it's only the tennokoe bank card and the arcade card cases that use those small tabs.  If that's the case I'm not worried about it.  It was more of a curiosity thing.  I do plan on picking up some of these lovely sleeves soon.  Thanks for the reply.

I've heard that the HuCard Trays for the Super System Card, Arcade Card, Tennoke Bank Card, won't fit inside a standard Audio CD Case.
Have you found this to be true?

I don't know what the deal is with the Street Fighter II. It appears to come with both a Quad CD Case and a Single CD Case. :?:

Oh, and if anyone can recommend a good Hole Punch, that can make a hole in a HuCard Sleeve that's the same size and shape as the aforementioned Japanese HuCards, I'd appreciate it.
I've been thinking about offering some pre-punched *5-Packs for completionists.
It's ok if it can only punch one hole at a time.

*Assuming my HuCard Sleeves have the same outer dimensions as the ones with holes in em, and assuming that there are only 5 HuCards that need them?
Just how many different HuCards came with the hole-punched sleeve?

I'll have to look when I get home, but I'd say not enough to really have it be worth your time and effort.

The white trays fit standard cases, most of 'em anyway.  The only one that doesn't is the Arcade Card Pro, which came in a slightly thicker jewel case and with a slightly different white tray thing.

If you put the Arcade Card (while it is in it's Vinyl Sleeve), and it's Manual, inside of a standard sized CD Jewel Case, that has no tray in it, will the lid close properly?

There's a ton of white-tray Japanese HuCard Games?
If that's the case, (pardon the pun) then I probably have a lot of hole-punchin to look forward to (if I can find a good hole-puncher).
At least, until I can start making my own trays. They won't require Holy HuCard Sleeves.

So, there really wasn't any reason for them to make the Case and Tray for the AC Pro a little thicker than the others? Weird.  :-k

Thanks for the "Maybe Forty" estimate. I'm working on the Tableset for the Punched-Sleeves.
Looks like I can stop at the 25-Pack QTY.
I have the other HuCards set up a little differently, and want to make sure the New Variant is set up similarly.
Now you can change desired QTY in the cart, for each QTY Pack, and not have to mess with drop-down menus, unless you are dealing with Reseller Packs.
So, if someone needs, say, 26, they can get a 25 and a 5 (30), instead of two 25's (50) AND the calculated shipping will work correctly in conjunction with that (as well as other combos).

I haven't found the right hole puncher jut yet, but I'm still looking.

I wanted to let ya'll know that the Reseller Packs for the non-holy HuCard sleeves are available again.

This time around, I tried (safely) fitting as many as I could in each of the 3 Flat Rate Box Types: RR Box A, Medium FRB and Large FRB.
I also compared the rates against UPS, FedEx, and non-flat-rate USPS Priority (Domestic)
and non-flat-rate First Class & Priority International.
As it turns out, the shipping methods I'm now using for them are the best bang for the buck.

The Consumer Packs are still available too, for those of you that only need a few.

Bump for awesome products!

I'm loving my new sleeves!

Fyi, Seymor's sleeves do work fine with the thicker HuCards.  I am using one each with my SF II and T. Bank.

I bought a pack from the online store. Awesome product that's identical to originals. I got rid of all my nasty gooey  and yellowed sleeves for these nice high quality sleeves.
Thanks!

You're Welcome.

Prolonged exposure to temperatures above 100 C (that's about 212 F) can cause soft/flexible Vinyl and Plastics to become gooey, or melt, or warp.

The most probable place this might happen, is in a poorly ventilated attic.
