@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

What do you think the legality is of projecting images onto the side of a public building?  Do you need permission?
I really want to play Bomberman on the side of a building.

Also, what sort of projector would you need (assume it's dark)  to project on this?

Pretty, uh, creative in coming up with a thread on such a subject. I don't think I ever would've pondered these questions myself... ;)

"Hmmm, I think I want to project Bomberman video images on a building some time... I wonder, what kind of projector would I need to get the job done??? And would it be illegal??"

I can't believe no-one else has ever thought of it ;)  Been doing some research:

Have to say though, even if it wan't illegal (and it doesn't seem to be) it's fairly conspicuous, so you'd probably get a wrist-slap eventually.  Hah, you know what would be fun?  Playing it in a car, with the projector shining out of the side window!

We used the building next to the one my friend lived, were we had some good house game night.
Some peeps didnt like it tho

Hahah!  I knew I wouldn't be the only one!  PCE is perfect for it too - portable!

Actually, on a different tangent, if you got a tiny projector, it would be a good night-time portable...

You should do a social media experiment. Bring the multitap and invite strangers to play a round or two with you.  Film it of course.

That's a good idea.  I have done something similar before on a busy night in the pub.

Stranger "What's in the bag?"
Me "4 Gameboy Advance SPs motherfucker!  LEt's play bomberman!!!"
Stranger and friend "Awesome!"

I still see them now and again.

On a related note, the other week, someone saw me and was like "OMG, Shakespear guy!  You're awesome!" I was like huh?  Me? "yeah, we met you last week and you were quoting shakespear!" O___O  "then some other guy was like "No, he's the Rome Total War guy!  Awesome!"

I didn't remember any of this, although to be fair, Thursday is £ a pint night.

Do you all get Pookas in the UK or that one an strictly irish thang ;)

You just need to open up an retro gaming pub!

so what are loitering laws on your side of the pond like? Would be cool to see some PCE games on the side of buildings and what not.

soop

Ah, I dunno really.  I don't really think we have them, we have more...  "antisocial" laws, which generally range from drinking in the street, loud music to vandalism and hooliganism.  The closest thing I can think of would be a breach of the peace, but you'd only get told to turn it off.

Generally it depends on how much of a dick the police want to be.  Me and a friend were enjoying a drink at the same place in the photo on a lovely hot day, and two coppers showed up and told us we couldn't.  They were just bullies looking to exert some power though, they said nothing to the two larger groups with crates of beer.  Wankers.  We just waited till they left and cracked a couple more cold ones.

SignOfZeta

If you want to take up the entire side of the building you're going to need a pretty fucking meaty projector. Something really expensive, hot, heavy, fragile, and with high power requirements. In other words, not portable. Then there is the fact that you'd have to have the projector elevated at least 15' in the air to avoid the trapezoid effect. The projector can compensate, but only so much. And will this projector take composite input? Maybe.

If you only need it to be 120" diagonal or so, there are quite a few projectors aimed at office people that could do that. They cost about a grand or less, but you can also rent them.

Thanks Zeta.  Looks like hijacking aside it's kind of a big deal.  Poop.

TurbobPub!  CHEERS!

NecroPhile

I like the idea, especially if you use an NEC projector.  It'd be like this, but with Dungeon Explorer or Gate of Thunder.  8)

It took eleven projectors to go around the museum, and I think they used run of the mill (but very pricey) cinema projectors.

If I had that crazy joystick I'd have a tough time giving it away :pcgs:.

I forget which forum member picked it up, but I had never heard of it before ("Fly Wing" or something like that).
