I feel embarrassed for that guy.  Someone message him.
I'm busy playing pinball, but I still drop by to visit.

psychobear

Better jump on it it's a super rare Japanese copy...
Let him live with the shame, don't message him..

FiftyQuid

This one made me laugh.  He found it wasn't packaged with English instructions.  That's because it clearly states (in French) there are "Instruction in French Inside" the box.  Typically the French instructions are just throw in with the English ones, but this one actually has a sticker.  It's a bit odd, but clearly this is a French Only copy.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonk-3-Bonks-Big-Adventure-Turbo-Grafx-16-TG16-Turbo-Duo-w-box-/281137475473

Not the worse auction, but I found it amusing.

What is more amusing, is that eBay describes Bonk 3 under tech details as a "3D hunting" game series entry.

As of lately I been looking to buy most of the games I had to sell not long ago and ebay prices just seem to jump up out of nowhere, especially for loose stuff.

Couldn't this seller have stood at edge of his bed to take the photo or at least used the crop tool?

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

CrackTiger

Possibly sealed, possibly used 4-in-1 disc. Described as Beyond Shadowgate. Comes with disc, case, manual and artwork insert, also described as coming none of that. Add in some more contradictive descriptions and minimum bid is only $90

Whatever is actually being sold, the seller is trying to convince true collectors to buy what at first looks like a new/sealed game. But going by the photo and messed up listing, it looks like it is very incomplete and is missing the 3 manuals (not counting the rest of the TurboDuo contents/packaging). Some ignorant sealed collector will likely buy this and feel very proud to have it sit on a shelf.

Gotcha. The auction was ended early. The seller also removed the photos except for a closeup of the DC power port, so we can't even tell what the actual item was anymore :/

i assume your being sarcastic. but yeahhhh fighting street came in a retail box.  it is possible that this is new but it would be way to easy to repackage.

Was it ever a pack-in, sans box?  Not that I ever recall, anyway.

yes sarcasm for sure - even if it was new the price tag is ridiculous!  do people actually think they can get these types of prices?

No. I asked him where the box was. Hehe.

THE ANSWER LOL!

Dear mediaencyclopedia,

How can this verified as a new unused item?  It seems to be missing its original sealed retail box.

Dear ebayer,

I can verify this is truly factory sealed.  It was removed from its original box, but it still has factory sealed cellophane on it.  I actually purchased this in myself along with alot of other factory sealed merchandise.  It came from a collector, so its definitely all legitimate.

- mediaencyclopedia

AND IT CONTINUES: (after I pointed out that this game never came like that to anyone's knowledge over the last 2 decades)

I had a customer come in with a box of super collectibles into my store. Many were factory sealed, others in pristine condition. We do see factory sealed resold to us from time to time, its rare but it does happen. This game came with that lot, and was sealed in cellophane. It isn't folded edges or a horizontal seam, but its also not indicitive of a typical reshrink job either. I may pull the item to re-investigate, but it appears to be unopened and untampered with. I have seen quite a few sealed games inside a larger box, like the Turbo Duo 3 in 1 that was a packin with the system, or 3DO did this quite a bit. We just don't see much TG16 or TGCD stuff, so you very well may be right.

OH!  Thats right. I forgot all the games were also sealed inside the sealed box.

And the "collector" comment is like saying..."I invested with Madoff, so it's all good."

Quite possibly the least knowledgeable answer ever.  I would pay good money just to find out how much he paid for "a lot of other factory sealed merchandise".  I'm laughing now, but an actual $$$ amount would cause physical tears of joy.  :D

I am wondering if games actually left factory with jewel case sealed inside sealed box.

I am not saying it is impossible, but I never encountered it back in the day. I purchased from mom-n-pop as well as chain retailers.

As you folks know, EB had a policy of putting out boxes only (by neatly slicing box seal along box flap...but I can see some stores taking the extra step of SEALING the now-naked jewel box to insure the integrity of the contents...)

Of course, I never talked to an employee from EB to corroborate any of my silly ideas...do you folks know of any interviews with retail employees who talked about the silly stuff they had to do to reduce theft/loss?

Make sense.  I use to work at Radio Scrap and we did the same thing.  I don't remember TG-16 games, but we definitely did with NES and SEGA.  Damn kids would steal the games on us.  Jokes on them as all they got was the case and the game was in the back room.  We use to bring them over to Staples (Business Depot) and have them reseal them for us.  We did this with PC games as well.
