The ROM list menu on my Turbo Everdrive looks really bad on my Turbo Express. It looks fine on my PC Engine console and once the game loads everything looks great.

I saw a video on youtube and the menu looked good on other TE portables just not on mine.

Is there some option I need to set ?

How do you have your roms named and organized?

Root:

JAPAN
USA
TOS.PCE
Untitled

then in JAP/US: A,B,C,D etc..

Bernie

OK, you got the organization down.   Lol.  Now, how are your ROMs named?  If you are using a ROM set you downloaded, and the name is long and has all the underscores in it, that could be the issue.

They are long names, but even the root (JAPAN, USA etc..) looks awful. It all looks squished.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the TE as the games look great as they are supposed to look once they are loaded. (Aside from 1 stuck (red) pixel - which I wonder if it can be fixed)

Bernie

Hmm.  I don't have a TE, so I cant mess with it.  I don't remember if there are settings you can adjust or not.

The menus using the same everdrive look fine when I use them in my white PC Engine console.

Yarr, what turbokon said.  The TE's resolution is inadequate to show great looking text.

Try reading the text in many games on your TE...you'll see it ranges from "passable" to "ugly, yet 60% legible" to "WTF!?"

I'm not sure who else does this but thesteve or myself can.  Both of us are located here in the states though. I'm east coast and thesteve is west coast.

Dougal, you really should consider it. I had thesteve put in a new lcd into my PCE GT, Duo-R do a lithium battery mod, and Turbokon throw in a controller port and component tv-out board. Now, i understand some people like to keep their systems stock, but the upgrades are truly worth it. Turbokon does all three mods now himself and you should consider them. Atleast the new lcd and the battery mod. its  amazing how good it looks, and how long your battery life will be :)
