^lol the widebody kit alone is close to 4,000(shipped) then put it on yourself if you dont wanna get raped. You buy tires later if you wanna brake upgrade to Vette brakes. Plus you may need spacers depending on the rim you get to make it come out and align with the wider body. I had 19s comfortably on my black one, they never rubbed when you turn the wheel all the way. So 19 is like the limit if you want low profiles.

Fiero = joke.  Sure you can make 'em faster by dropping in bigger engines.... followed by better brakes, transmission, suspension, etc.   Why bother when you can start with a better platform?

P.S. - They're mid-engine (not rear) and they're hardly the sole US built mid-engine auto ever made.

I have to agree.  There's a reason they aren't in production any more.

Necro go re read my post I said only american PRODUCTION car  , and most people dont know what mid engine is.  As for a base? It has a 5 star crash rating due to its 3,000 weld frame. I;ve had two rust free ones, Im hoping to luck out with a 3rd. You can also put in a newer Pontiac G6 six speed transmission in any Fiero.

Reason its not in production was because Chevy is the boss of Pontiac and they did not want their car out selling the Corvette. Thats the 'official' story. Mechanically they are perfect unless you have the stock  v6 that suffers from a common problem that everyone leaves the car sitting for years (its really an easy fix 10 minute job). So people like me can score them all at under 100k miles.

My 1984 had 79k miles when I bought it. My 1987 had only 90k

Amend it to cheapest US production mid-engine car, and you'd probably be right.  Ford's GT, SSC's Aero, and Saleen's S7 were all made in the US and are mid-engined (low volume but still real cars with VINs and everything!); there's the Chevy Corvaire too, but it was actually rear-engined.

But the question is, why would you want one at all?
Seriously, what about this car that makes it so nice on the inside?  Because it certainly cant be the outside of it.
They look like a sad, dated attempt at a muscle car that a 30 something would drive while hanging out with kids that are still in high school.

Disclaimer, i am the furthest thing on the planet from a "car guy" you will ever meet.
As long as it gets me there, im good.  No need to bring attention while i'm getting there.

They're okay in stock v6 form as a somewhat quick and decent handler, but I wouldn't touch one for heavy modding.  It matters not that a northstar or a f40 will drop in, as neither is all that great as a performance part.  And you know what else an LS1 will fit in?  A C5, and as an added bonus you'll get a chassis and drivetrain that can handle the torque.

^Your right, the you'll never get the power to the wheels in a Fiero. Thats why Im just going 3.8 V6 with a 6speed for a weekend car.

NA or SC'd?  Either way they're pretty good motors.

I'm rather disappointed in the new Regal GS.  More power (on paper at least), better suspension, better tires, and two more cogs in the transmission yet it's not really any quicker or more efficient than a 15 y.o. Regal GS with its heavy 3.8.  At least it'll take corners better, I guess.

Nec, NA. The SC is too expensive and I want the engine to last, forced induction never lasts. I was gonna go 2nd gen, out of random  Buick, if you go 3rd gen you need to install electronic throttle 'drive by wire' which I dont like, rather have a  cable.
