Hello everyone,

Having received some PCE hucards for Christmas I busted out my PC Engine and sadly am not able to get any games to turn on. I have the suitcase setup and when I plug it in and flip the switches nothing happens. I am able to get my CD-ROM2 to turn on and play discs. It is just the CoreGrafx that is experiencing this. The same happens when I separate it and plug it in directly. Also, if this helps, I have an everdrive. When the everdrive is in the system, the LED flashes and then turns off.

My question is, what can I do to diagnose the problem? Is this sort of thing fixable or should I begin searching for a replacement?

Leave the Everdrive out of the equation and just try to get some hu-cards going in the coregrafx itself, does that work? if not does the picture flicker for just a second when turning it on? if not possibly Fuse or LM7805, check the first ones and get back to us.

None of my hucards work either. It also does not work when I have the arcade card in. I just mentioned the everdrive because it's the only thing I can do to see any kind of response. Nothing appears on the TV regardless of what card I have in it.

I will open it up this weekend and check the fuse. Thanks for pointing me to some possibilities :)

Then it is the most likely, fuse or regulator, a simple multimeter check on the fuse will show you if that's the problem, if the fuse is ok, then check regulator (7805), middle leg is ground the outer is in and the other is out, it should leave 5v, not 4v not 6v, +-0,2v is ok.

And you will need a 4.5mm gamebit to get it open too...

Have you tried cleaning the card slot?

Cleaning a Turbo Grafx Console.

I've purchased several "non-working" Turbo Grafx and PC Engine consoles, then fixed them this way and turned around and sold them with no complaints from the buyers.
