Saw this game mentioned on the latest ep. of game sack. It looks to be a fun beat um up, and the turbo doesn't have to many. So i wanted to check what you guys thought of this game

Tatsujin

unfortunatelly not a good on our obey machine. it could have been much better than that :(

A Black Falcon

Look on the bright side, even if Mad Stalker is kind of average, it's still probably better than Genocide or Browning...

munchiaz

I just want some decent beat um ups to play. What other ones can be suggested?

PunkCryborg

Beat em ups are probably pce's worse genre as far as selection unfortunately....

River City Ransom, Double Dragon II, Riot Zone.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Joe Redifer

There is a homebrew beat 'em up being made for PCE as well.

As well as Dragon Arm which'll be using the same engine as GA 2.0.

I like Mad Stalker. Big and well animated sprites, lots of moves, fun to play,  but a little repetitive because of a lack of variety among the enemies.
Good beat em all (in my opinion): Downtown Nekketsu Monogatori, Vigilante, Kaze Kiri ... Ane San is cool but either you like it or hate it.

Xak

So mad stalker is better on the X68000?

A Black Falcon

Is the gameplay better on X68000?  I know that the X68000 version has parallax scrolling while the TCD version does not, unfortunately, but did they downgrade the gameplay too?  The TCD version is alright, but I don't know how it plays on other platforms.

Tatsujin

x68k is much richer in action and nicer grafx and speed and yeah parallax and almost everything else that is in a way comparable.

to be honest, i kinda find the PCE version lacking a lot of its initial drive and is kinda dull to play. it was a rushed and sloppy port in my eyes, which could have been done much better on ACD. sue the lack of parallax is forgivable.

SuperDeadite

The PCE one is still better then the FM Towns port.  Even on a 486, the Towns version is still unplayable shit.

RyuHayabusa

I played all the way to the final level on Mad Stalker a few years back. It's a decent game, nothing too special. Definitely not as nice looking as the X68000. Nice music from what I recall though.

Xak

is Genocide better on the 68000?

Genocide 1 on X68000 sucks.
The FM Towns remake however is quite good.

Genocide 2 however is nicer on X68000 as the Towns version lost some parallax.

awack

The game isn't as deep as say Ranger x or Cybernator, but when you look at those huge sprites moving that fast and big beautifully animated explosions, plus awesome, awesome sound fx, i think its one of the coolest robot/mech games ever, cool as hell.
