Hey there! Does anyone have any good stories about great deals or trades they've made for rare Turbo games, or any great wild finds?

My best (and only one of two wild finds) was a complete US Super System Card that I found in a stack of CDs for 5 bucks! Since that day I've been hooked on collecting for the Turbografx and finding the best deals possible.

I would love to hear some your guys' stories  :D

Hahaha. I'll admit it's a bit of a douchy post topic, but I'm a total sucker for hearing about great deals for any system but especially Turbografx deals

I bought Magical Chase MIB and Cotton MIB for $5 each, walked outside, tore Magical Chase open and played it on my Turbo Express during the ride home. Made it to the end, but didn't beat the final boss that night. Tore open and played through Cotton the next morning.

Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I paid about £10 for a bundle of 10 hu cards and one turned out to be parasol stars. So while not very epic still pretty decent.

I bought a CIC Cadash for $20 and a CIB Turbografx system with CIC Splatterhouse and a loose Bonk 2 for $85.

I have bought several "dead" turbos for almost nothing (~$10) that worked just fine.

Cotton US version for $10 I believe.  It was 1994 though.
Dungeon Explorer 2 US version for $5
Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire New for $50  Bought before Care4Data versions existed.
Kabuki Itouryodan for $1.00 brand new

Went to a Play N Trade in spring 2012 and asked if they had any TurboGrafx in back. Guy comes to me after vanishing for what seemed like 15 minutes with a stack:

Bonk's Revenge
Alien Crush
Final Lap Twin
Aero Blasters
Super Star Soldier*
Parasol Stars
Silent Debuggers*
Bloody Wolf

*missing manual.

All games were $5 each except Parasol Stars, that was $15. Apparently the games were priced in 2008 and just sat.

Always, always ask to look in back. :3

Another quick thing; Found a Bonk 3 HuCard loose for about $100 at a shop called "2nd Chance", it didn't work, brought it back after thoroughly trying to resurrect it. Yay! :(

I once found a boxed TE with boxed TV turner, Complete CD set up with 3.0 Card, and about 30 games (which included bonk 3 and New adventure Island) for $500 bucks shipped from the next town over.  I spread all the dupes here and made out pretty well in the end.

Man, you all are making me Jelly. Grats on those deals, the deals I've been happiest with I've gotten around here, with my best non-site deal being It Came From the Desert, Sherlock Holmes, Monster Lair, Addams Family and a loose Lords of the Rising Sun for $50, which is an amazing deal for ebay, but not all that great in the real world. Still, can't complain, as the deals I got here made up for it.

Just out of curiosity, where are some of you located? I'm in Miami, and the used game scene here is pretty dead. It's getting better, but it is definitely rough, we had a bunch of stores back in the day, but they are long dead now. Though with CD Trader and a new Game Exchange opening, maybe things will be different.

Reminds of the time I found a copy of Samurai Ghost (card only) for 10 bucks at a used game store in Southern California. I guess the owner of the store hand't price checked it in years, and as I was about to buy it the store owner "double checked" eBay and then asked 50 for the card. Needless to say I haven't back to that shop since

But dam.. that really sucks getting a dead Bonk 3 :/

That is a damn good deal for eBay. I haven't come across too many killer deals on eBay yet, and that is certainly better than any deal I've managed to score on eBay.

I'm located in Southern California. It's a pretty damn competitive market out here for game chasing and collecting, but I have managed to score a couple of great finds. Plus, there are some really cool and fair traders and re-sellers out here

I responded to a Craigslist ad that had Turbografx games. I got around 15 complete in case games including as Ys I &II, Monster Lair, R-Type for $5 each. It turns out that the lady I bought the games from was a former NEC employee. As a matter of fact, I met her a couple of blocks away from the former headquarters in Wood Dale, IL, hehe. I've had quite a bit of luck on Craigslist. Another find was A Duo with all the hookups for $60. I had to drive over to Indiana, but it was well worth the drive as they had tons of other stuff for sale too. :)

I've been on a good run with ebay lately, finding some good BIN's.
But nothing locally in the wild that I can remember.

There is this awesome forum that I'm a member of where I got a free Cadash, Order of the Griffon, and Parasol Stars for FREE via raffles.  Does that count?  The place really is wild.

At the end of the Radio Shack clearance (Dixie Value Mall, Mississauga, Ontario), they were taping together bundles of 10 Super CDs and selling them for $10...

The bundles  contained an assortment of Prince of Persia, Loom, Shadow of the Beast, Sim Earth, Buster Bros., Lords of Thunder and Forgotten Worlds.

Tons of single item deals I got on the cheap but these were the huge ones.

4882 (If I recall correctly) sealed games in a storage bin that I found on Craigslist. I think it was .67 a piece that I paid for them. They were all 3DO, Game Gear, Sega CD and 32X games. This is a pic from the back of the car trailer I moved them in. They were 3-5 boxes deep.

Also a Craigslist find. The boxed Turbo was actually new/sealed. I think I paid $225 for the entire lot.

Most of my good "wild finds" happened back in the late 90's before collecting was even a consideration...I got Snatcher for the Sega CD for $5 at a used CD store...Guardian Heroes for the Saturn for $7. Sealed copies of Rayearth, Shining Wisdom and Shining the Holy Ark for $5-10 each when they were on clearance. No one ever thought they'd be worth dick in 10 years.

My best "collecting era" find was probably a Neo-Geo CD, 2 controllers and 20 games for $150.

That's awesome, and I definitely miss regular deals like that. When I was 11/12 back in the late 90s, I would use all of my allowance/chore money to buy used Sega and SNES games at Software Etc. and other stores. I think I payed 5 bucks each for Chrono Trigger and Dracula X back in the day. And I'm fairly certain there were tons of other rare and expensive games that I didn't pick up.

Don't get me started on this.  I have almost jumped over the counter of my local game place when they have something stickered with a price, but when you bring it up, they do the "price correction" to make sure they aren't accidentally underpricing it based on todays market.  Games sitting around for over a year, obviously nobody bought at the original price they had it at, but it must be worth more NOW!

I bought a model 1 genesis with a model 1 Sega cd, three controllers, and an arcade stick, with original adapters and av wires, all functioning off eBay for $30. With shipping the total was $60.
