I don't care what anyone else says, I like the Super Mario Bros. movie and it's almost entirely because of Bob Hoskins' performance as Mario. He may have hated working on it, but even so, he gave it his all. Farewell, good sir. You will be missed.
I am bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

Liked him in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.  He also played a beliveable Nikita Khrushchev in the movie Enemy at the Gates.

Honestly i can only think of him in Roger Rabbit, and i loved that movie as a kid. I made my dad buy it for me when i was young because i had watched it at a friends house and loved the cartoon interactions with humans. I also loved that Christopher Lloyd was in it. But Bob Hoskins was great in that. I'll have to check out more of his stuff. Sad to hear.

I wonder how many kids back in the 90s forced their parents to go take them to the movies to go watch it? I know I did. :P

I have never seen the Mario Bros. Movie.

To be honest, I am curious about it.

It's probably the most bizarre kids' movie ever made and that's why it's awesome. Interestingly, the cheesy "animated" opening was done because they ran out of money and the studio wouldn't give them any more to film the awesome-sounding prologue they had in mind that would have actually shown Bowser's takeover. The opening we got was the best they could do with the extremely limited funds they had left.
