Game over man GAME OVER!  The AVGN has finally played a TG-16 game on his channel.....granted it is not the character AVGN but a let's play ish video but now we can expect to see Splaterhouse jump to $80 bucks a copy and systems jump to $250.
Because you know it's popular mainstream now.

That is not the first turbo game he's reviewed. He also took a brief look at Fighting Street in one of his earlier episodes a few years back. It might have been when he reviewed Street Fighter 2010, but I am not 100% sure.

I stand corrected. But still this is a more full look at the TG-16 a sneak peek at the duo and a much more popular game. I fear ut is not long until a AVGN episode on the TG-16 and Duo.

Granted I havent seen a AVGN vido posted on his youtube account in like 2 years so yeah. Maybe he doesnt post them on youtube anymore but I was never bothered to look at his cinimasicer website.

I will say I initally enjoyed the AVGN less so the many imitators then grew to become warry of game channels that felt the need for a persina.

I now enjoy gaming channels that present the reviewer as themselves jeanouly talking about the games and systems like game sack game chasers (although at time a bit to comfertavle in their bodily functions) and retro liberty.

Mind you in maby ways these shows are genious in that their popularity funds (imo) their gaming habbit.

I did find it cute how Mike was "I dont know what I am doing I think I am just getting lucky) as he jumped over spiked ball after spiked ball or how AVGN I honestly cant remmeber his real name at the moment did the double shotgun trick.

I all seeemed to be edited in a way to say oh look at us try this game out we have barly had any time with.

Now look how we seeminly master parts of it out of thin air.

Well la la la .......it felt so transparent I honestly felt a little annoyed with their smash cutting.

But then agai. I could be reading to much into it all.

It was bound to happen anyway, I'm surprised it took him this long.
Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta get my PC Engine lifeboat ready for a potential full AVGN episode on Turbo hardware...

And I love collectard Mike Matei.... Yeah check out my turbo duo, its where its at. I only had to spend $600 for it....

Kinda lame.  They suck at playing Splatterhouse, and I giggled at their extension cord diatribe (good luck with one between the tap and system).

I'm not going to bother searching for previous discussions, but it's a fact that some (not all) games have problems with extension cords placed between the tap and systems.

I have had amazingly bad luck with taps.  I still have the paperwork where I send a bad tap back to NEC in 1990 to have it repaired.

Agreed. AVGN, at times, simply sucks at playing games. Saw him playing Lester the Unlikely (which, honsetly, is not that bad a game) on the SNES as if he were blindfolded and getting stung by giant hornets that secreted opium from their stingers. It was just bad.  ](*,)
My past-life would've surely led to our demise, and I had left it not a moment too soon. Our escape, though dangerous, had gone well. The train ride, sunlight, and passing snow-covered pine trees came together in a flickering show of our bright, new future together. Look at it this way:  If it ever gets really, really nuts you can just load up your everdrive, sell all the physical games off and buy a nice new house.

I actually sometimes use the multi tap as a sort of extension for the controller, it's not much but it gives it a little extra length.

How do you be a video game nerd, yet never have played the Turbo?  I mean serisously.  It's been out before the Genesis and Super Nintendo, but you never played it before?  That's plenty of time from then till now to find one and play it if you heard so many good things about it.  Now, about 25 years later it's "Hey lets get into the Turbo and do some reviews on youtube so everyone knows we hardcore about Turbo ."  I just don't get these youtube game review channels.

.  I think AVGN never covered the turbo because it doesn't appeal to as broad of an audience. He's trying to maximize traffic and fandom, so the nes, Genny, and SNES are mainstays. On the other hand, he has covered crap like the 5200, and the coleco and intellivisions, which most gamers have probably not played.

It started out funny because. It was the first (high production) self made you tube video when it came out. He even got to go on Storage G4 when it was in its hay day in his nerd persona.

I enjoy the stuff he does when he is not in character and is speaking as a fan and general gamer who wants to discuss or share a game system or series

What I never understood was how the stuff he reviews or touchs on jumps in price when its usually junk or such a poor representation of a system I.e. sega cd that it still jumps in price for those of us actually interested in said system game or series.

But yes it is that mass appeal mass consumerism mass "shit load of fucks" and toilet humor that the tweens teens and 20 somethngs crave .......

Sometimes I wish I could turn into a giant fist and punch a hole through the earth....

. I disagree with it being marketed towards teens tweens. I think its appeals to the folks like us that grew up playing the shit, and appreciate/ identify with the frustration.

I would think that Classic Game Room would do more for the price of games than AVGN. I definitely have seen games on Chrontendo/Chronturbo and thought man that seems cool, I want to go buy it.

This I would agree.... I find marks reviews and general views on classic gaming as a while to be very alike my own.....then I see a review of a game I never knew existed then I go on the hunt.....

There are things mark does that have begun to anoy me .... For example how he will (as of recent) take a game and pretend to insert it in a diffent system not related...it was funny..then it was cute...now it is simply done to death......

But over all the guy is just like able..and watching the stuff he did for fun with his college friend from before the Internet or YouTube is interesting ..

It's interesting that Mike is usually the better player than James. I'm not sure how they were having trouble jumping over those spikes. Just hold the jump button down. Makes me think that a turbo switch might have been on and Mike figured out to turn it off. Hope Mike's Duo has new capacitors or the audio and other things will start going to shit pretty soon. Replacing caps on those is mandatory. Same with the Turbo Express. We've gotta change out Dave's Duo caps next week and give it s-video so that all of the Turbo recording on Game Sack won't fall on me. Doing his NES tonight.

.   I thought the same thing about the turbo button. Its not surprising that Mike is the better player. If you watch a lot of the "story" videos or interviews behind AVGN, James borrowed a lot of the games and systems from Mike to review. Mike was also the one that encouraged James to make more videos. Without Mike there would probably be no nerd.

I think the turbo switch was up on the jump button causing problems.  It was nice to see some Turbo love from the AVGN especially since Splatterhouse is my favorite Turbo game ever.

It's funny, I haven't bought a single game because of the AVGN but I have bought several games after watching Classic Game Room including Truxton.

I am starting to wonder if AVGN and CGR and other big-time classic game reviewers aren't reviewing Obey more is because they are late to the bandwagon and they want to grow their collection before announcing how good some of these games are.  It's clear that when some of these big names review a game favorably, ebay prices spike (which means everything spikes).  I bet they are new to obey and don't want to hype it until they have solid collections.  And I'm good with that.  If they never speak of Obey again, I'll be happy because it's only going to make it harder to find reasonable deals.
