Shovel Knight, a sweet new retro game

It looks fantastic.  The main bummer for me, is that I don't have a Wii U or 3DS, & would get it on Steam, but I'd much rather wait till it is the PS3/4 or Vita.

Could do with more background scrolling, but then it would stray from it's "retro" roots I guess wish 16-bit was the go-to for retro instead of 8-bit feels a bit limiting.

As for the sound, I think it's amazing, limited but full range on that limit....

Oh yeah, if it looked and sounded 16 bit, it'd still be retro. Why do so many assume that NES-era graphics and sound are the upper limit for "retro"?

Playing this last night, I was actually thinking it looked more like a Turbo or Genesis game. Sure, it's styled like an NES game, but the color palate reminds me of Dragon's Curse, or other Wonderboy games.

But the game is crazy fun. I've played for about an hour and love it.

I only played it a little.   The movement is kind of slow compared to the stuff I've been playing (lol, Ninja Spirit), but it's pretty solid.

I'm glad it was finished.  It's about time all these Kickstarter games finally come out.

I can see why they would go for that color palette, makes it easier and quicker to turn around and calls the NES nostalgia button.

It's available on 3DS as well and pc through steam it's not just the wii u.No idea if it's u.s only and if it has a JPN release.

I beat the game last night. I really enjoyed it. def plays like a mega man style game. I liked the fact that there are some minor rpg elements, but doesn't overwhelm you. To many of these new "retro" style games, are retro only in looks, but offer so many options it can be a bit overwhelming to someone who comes in thinking it will be a pick up and play type of game.

For example, Mercenary kings, on PSN. retro style game, plays like metal slub and metriodvania, But then it gives you tons and tons of customization options, and skill trees and such. I cant just pick it up and play it. I gotta spend 30 minutes doing all this option shit first. I don't want that in my retro games. Shovel knight has some minor RPG elements, but they are very small, and dont get in the way of the gameplay

I was skeptical of those "RPG" elements at first with the town stuff. I didn't like it too much at first but it's alright. I definitely don't hate it. It's pretty simple and i like that.

I was playing some more of the game today and i have fun with it. I'm not very good so i die a lot. But i still have my fun

Picked this up on Wii U a couple of days ago. It's great fun so far, and the soundtrack is excellent.

I kind of hate that they incorporated achievements (or "feats") into it though... now I feel compelled to complete them all. Stupid OCD.

He's one of those tryhards that's like putting on this goony condescending/snarky tone and trying to be an expert with his mouth diarrhea, but usually falls short on the information.

Though, I do give him a high five for doing a Super Hydlide video that was good.

I was at a used shop last night looking for Tetris Axis and saw the Green Lantern game...then I saw the price, which confirmed Hailing was trolling me. Ended up buying Tetris on the eshop...just needed a puzzle game for my flight today when I burn out on Shovel Knight at some point.

I just completed the game recently on normal and i have unlocked new game+.Such a wonderful game to with elements ranging from castlevania to mega man.Man i wished it would get a physical release instead of being digital only.

got mine updated on PC you cant play as plague knight unless you beat the game already

wasn't aware of a code maybe its a console only deal
