In a scene as small as this, with so few coders... who is even able to steal code from other coders? It makes no fucking sense. Besides, we all help each other out when we can... none of us are in any kind of competition with each other.

Arkhan supplied me with some code that I have used in a couple of games, Bonknuts wrote some code for me that I have used in a few games, both Bonknuts and TheOldMan have written utilities that I've used in game production. Nothing was ever "stolen".

Well, we all were nobodys at one point. Everyone who's made a PCE game for sale popped up out of nowhere, really... some more surprising than others. This is just the wrong way to become recognized for your work. Fucking earn it the honest way, like the rest of us. Arkhan and I may not see eye to eye on everything but at least we don't go spreading shit about each other behind the other's back. If you've got a great game, it should be able to stand on its own merits... no need to shit on other people's work and try to discredit them in order to make your own work seem good. This is fucking Trolling 101... divide and conquer tactics. "I make everyone else out to be scum so I can be the savior of the scene!"

For which game? Afaik, none of the Aetherbutt games remotely resemble that picross game.
I suspect that what he sees as theft is simply a case of 'common solutions to common problems'. How many ways can you move a sprite (or indicator) anyway? Or even color cycle a palette?

Without specific statements about what was 'stolen', I put it down to another wannabe programmer (who can't actually get anything working) crying over sour grapes. He's just upset because we have a working game on cards while he's probably still trying to figure out how to display a background

Because:

1) The source is readily available.  It's all just right there ready for download! ... oh wait.

2) Insanity, Pyramid Plunder, and Atlantean DEFINITELY resemble a Picross game, and we really needed help with it all and had no choice but to steal all of the code ever from Chris Covell's computer. 

I actually snuck into his house and saved the entire source to 948 floppy disks.   Sorry, Chris.

I couldn't get all of that action packed arcade shooting done without borrowing your puzzle game code!   



Really though, the goofy effect on the title screen of Insanity was borrowed from one of the sample things that was on Zeograd/came with Magic Kit.   Chris wrote that, AFAIK.

It needed to be rewritten and fiddled with some to get it to even work with HuC though, and was fiddled with a bit more to get it to look right with the background.

Considering that it comes with every download of the toolkit as an example... we didn't steal shit.

It's a ripoff of the Bomberman title screen effect, anyways.   It's not like that's a great secret.

Good luck to anyone trying to screw up Aetherbyte's party.   Try having a completed game at least before you even attempt to do that.
