How many game were you able to beat in 2014. I started a list of my own because I wanted to keep track of which games i beat, and i also wanted to make sure i was beating games in my backlog rather than just buying new stuff, and moving on to a game before completion.

Looks like BackLoggery doesn't record a date when you add an entry... I think I only have one game to list though it might've been late 2013. Can't remember for sure.

Kingdom Hearts. (Old school Squaresoft)

Spamming myself with the BackLoggery image in my sig has helped only very minimally for me to get back into gaming quantity-wise...

It's there, you just have to open up your Memory Card item to show all listings, and then everything is tagged by date.

Haha, thanks, you're right, I found it! Glad they thought of at least that!

http://backloggery.com/memorycard.php?user=NightWolve

So yeah, I did beat that late 2013... DOH!

But I do actually have one for 2014, realized it a bit later.

1. Super Mario World [SNES] - Beaten but not 100% complete, at 81% and that's with a lot of searching!

I had been playing around with 2 small CRT television sets trying to learn the best RGB modding technique. So while having my SNES connected with RGB directly to the electron guns of these test TVs, I wound up beating the test game a few times which was SMW. It all looked so great in RGB, had to try to finish it! Never got 81% before as far as discovering all the hidden tricks and areas... Still can't believe I didn't get to 100%, I spent many many hours to find all that shit out, but still need more time. Anyway, that's all I got for 2014... :/

MrFulci

Nightwolve, I also played through SNES Super Mario World, in 2014. It had been... almost 20 years, since I last played it through, to completion.

I actually got stuck, at almost complete. I had to do a lot of backtracking, noticed I got all the secrets...

It all led me to the star world, where I missed a particular, "Normal" exit. It was an uneventful exit, as when I exited level, and was on the map screen, Mario just moved along a path I had already cleared.

it took me at least 2 hours to explore, and figure out I had not missed a secret, but a normal exit, and after trying a few levels, I started thinking back to the star world, and my hunch was right.

From what I recall, you can only get to 96(%) or so.

The only level I ever had to look up was Soda Lake.

Seriously, how could anyone figure that one out?

MrFulci

I had to look that up just now, as I don't know all the levels by name.

Soda Lake, I think I figured that out in the 90s, without magazine help, since there were more arrow signs after you go through that exit. I think I did it the harder way, just with the cape, no jumping off of Yoshi.

I forget which secret gave most issues, years ago, probably something in star world.
"Damnit, Beavis, put that away. You're not supposed to have your _____ out when you're cooking".

Thinking back I had a pretty decent year of gaming:
Ys I&2
Ys IV (PCE)
Ys IV (SNES)
Super Mario Wii U
Super Mario 3d World
Super Castlevania IV
Mega Man 2 (Beat it a long time ago)
I feel like there are some others that I can't think of right now.
Also, played a lot of Mario World with my kids in 2014, The number that it shows isn't actually a percentage but the number of exits.

ParanoiaDragon

Gonna have to guess to some degree, as I'm not sure which one's I specifically beat in 2014, but, thereabouts in the last year or so I'd guess....:

Gravity Rush(Vita)
Fallout: New Vegas(PS3)
Marvel Super Hero Squad(PS2)
Marvel Super Hero Squad(PS3), except most the digital content, as it's no longer fricken available thanks to THQ going out of business!! :(

Metroid Prime 1 & 2(Wii) still gotta play the 3rd

I keep track of new OBEY clears in that one thread, but I don't keep track of other systems or games I like to whip out and beat on a semi-regular basis (like Hatris and Atlantean).  For PSP games, I can't keep shit straight on time lines, where one year blurs into the next, but I've managed to beat nearly half of 'em and another ten or so that've beaten me (fuck you, Dungeon Explorer!).  I think that's pretty good, seeing as I amassed a decent sized collection (60) in just a few years, much to quickly to keep up on playing but they were too damn cheap to pass up.

You weren't able to beat Dungeon Explorer on PSP?  Is it just really hard, or is it just a crappy game, & you lost interest?  I have the DS & PSP games, I planned on eventually playing them..

Heh, este is close.  It demands lots and lots of monotonous grinding to gain materials needed to unlock upper dungeons and to advance enough levels to not get your ass handed to you when you get there.  After looking online to see where I was at and finding I was maybe half way through, I quit playing at just under 100 hours, but I'll go back to it again eventually.

Was trying to do it without any guides, it's just that after you've beaten it and you go back to each and every level to scour it for the secret paths, alternate exits via the key, or whatever, it gets sooo damn boring... I never used to do this as a kid, I wanted to just get to the next game and enjoy something new; beating the game was considered "completed" as far as I was concerned back then. The fast paced nature with renting something every week to beat it though got me eventually regretting, thinking that I was missing out on the "full experience," not really savoring each game, so I slowed my gaming pace down, starting buying more games to own them and fully play them in time, but then I never recovered, then college came, first job, etc. In hindsight, considering all that I'm missing out on these days, I had the right idea as a kid seems like. Heh.

Anyway, you had to pull off some crazy platforming moves, so you get my respect.

This is a very minor spoiler if you're not using a guide but.............

The levels with secret exits are red on the map. If it's not red then there is only one exit. Just go to a level that's red, if it doesn't branch on the map then you've only reached one exit so far.

Not bad. I've beaten it too many times ( as in, I probably should have tried something new instead of sticking with the familiar).

I tend to go back to certain games—a lot.

Like Wonderboy 1/Adventure Island (NES)

I'm much better at platformers than shmups, so I have a tendency to go back to the Bonk games, JJ and Jeff, Legendary Axe, Pac-Land and such more often than a lot of the other games in the turbo library.
